whisper99 - Daniel and Vala both lose their memories while together
Daniel knocks over a small vase that he had always carefully hidden whenever Cameron was in the room.
Cameron watches him for a reaction and when there is nothing but the pursing of a mouth and a vague frown he knows.
Daniel isn’t in there anymore.

“It’s just stupid.”
“It’s not stupid.”
“Yes it is.”
“No it isn’t.”
“Yes.”
“No… oh my god, I cannot believe you just made me do that.”
“Do what?”
Sam sighs and sits back, hands over her eyes. “I’m sorry, but it’s your name. We’re not changing it.”
“But… Vala,” she says with a scrunched up face. “I mean, what kind of a name is that?”
000
“This makes his-?”
“Fourth amnesia.”
“And her-?”
“Second.”
Jack touches the phone to his forehead for a moment and just breathes. He can hear the sound of Carter on the other end, waiting for him to come to the rescue. She’s saved their asses more times than he can count but he is still supposed to do something.
“Do you want me to come there?”
“That would be good. You’re his oldest friend. Maybe you’ll… jog something.” She lets out a brittle little laugh and Jack winces. He hears from it what she can’t bring herself to say.
This is bad Jack. This is really bad.

“Vala?”
Vala doesn’t respond and Sam looks at Cameron who shrugs. “She said she wouldn’t answer to such a weird name.”
“What am I supposed to call her?”
“Beth.”
“Beth?”
“Don’t ask me, I’m just the messenger.”
“Fine. Beth?”
Vala looks up and smiles, but it isn’t the old full-teeth grin. It’s a demure quirk of the lips and Sam feels something inside her heart twist.
“It can wait,” she says.

“If he calls me Jim I am so outta… what’s going on?” Jack was working up to a good rant when he pulls short at Sam’s shoulder. She is standing in the doorway of the cafeteria, watching Daniel and Vala inside.
They’re sitting at one of the smaller tables and Vala throws back her head and laughs as they watch. Daniel takes one of her hands and toys with the fingertips, running the pad of his thumb over and around and through.
“He likes her,” Sam says, surprise in her tone. Jack’s brow furrows.
“What?”
“I mean, without the weight of the world on his shoulders and his history of grief, he just met her and liked her.”
“What are you saying?” Jack prods, not sure whether he likes where Sam is going.
“Maybe we can…”
“Sam.” Jack’s tone is now one of warning.
“Maybe we can let them go.”
