Why didn't anyone tell me that Torchwood kicked ass?

I kind of half-watched the first three or four episodes when they were on TV but didn't really worry when I kept missing it and then lost track completely.

I was kicking around last weekend and had stuff to watch and do but didn't really feel like any of it and my flatmate suggests (for the fiftieth time) that I watch it so I started and...

*hands*

Now I have to wait for season 2 because she lent it to someone else... argh!

I love tiny little touches in shows that mean someone is paying attention to how real people work and I love how real and normal Gwen is and how ridic their situations are. I mean, she throws up when she sees a dead body and then is not immediately fine. She keeps retching when she's trying to help Jack and that's just such a nice honest touch.

And then the next moment there's a pterodactyl fighting a cyberwoman.

HAHAHAHAAAAAA!!

Welcome to the Torchwood family. Mind you there are a few nuts (like any family) but most of us are relatively sane. 'though personally I've never laid claim to a completely sane moment in my entire life.

I love now normal Gwen is and her reactions to the "weirdness" that is Torchwood. I also love how seriously flawed and broken and real the whole team is.
