Why didn't anyone tell me that Torchwood kicked ass?
I kind of half-watched the first three or four episodes when they were on TV but didn't really worry when I kept missing it and then lost track completely.
I was kicking around last weekend and had stuff to watch and do but didn't really feel like any of it and my flatmate suggests (for the fiftieth time) that I watch it so I started and...
*hands*
Now I have to wait for season 2 because she lent it to someone else... argh!
I love tiny little touches in shows that mean someone is paying attention to how real people work and I love how real and normal Gwen is and how ridic their situations are. I mean, she throws up when she sees a dead body and then is not immediately fine. She keeps retching when she's trying to help Jack and that's just such a nice honest touch.
And then the next moment there's a pterodactyl fighting a cyberwoman.
HAHAHAHAAAAAA!!

Be wary, though, for Gwen is a lightning rod in the fandom - you either love her or hate her! It's mostly the die hard fans of a certain couple - no spoilers, just in case - that have a problem, but.
I'll admit I didn't like her at first, but as time went on I really, really started to! I mean, how often is it you have a character with imperfections cast in a lead role?
Wow I ramble. I just love it!

More than likely we will get it on DVD before it's on television, that happened with Dexter here... *throws up hands*

Mostly because everyone tells me Torchwood sucks, so I ignore them all and don't proselytize much?
However, if you hate Gwen after you get all the way through both series I will pout a lot.

I admit only getting into Torchwood about 6 months ago. I really had no idea of the plot, and just thought that a Doctor Who spinoff wouldn't be that good. So glad that I was wrong. Doesn't hurt that Ianto is so nice to look at either. :)

I do love how Gwen is so ... human. She makes mistakes, is guilty, lies, throws up, leaves Rhys stranded at the oddest times.. and Season 2? OMG! LOVE ... I am partial to bruised and broken, all to heroic, and way to condescending Owen. I have a thing for doctors me thinks...

Dude. I thought i talked about Torchwood where you could see it?
I adore it. I adore Gwen and the gap in her teeth and how she's *not perfect* and how she tries too hard and how she's conflicted and how she loves Rhys and how she fights for what she thinks is right.
Of course, i also adore, adore, adore Tosh. She is so *smart*, and so *gorgeous* and so damn down on herself and so freaking *cute* and...and then Owen.
Ooh, Owen. Scene i don't know, episode *one*, Owen picks up a chick, the boyfriend is like 'wth??' and Owen picks him up *too*, i mean....
*hands*!!!!
YES.
Yes yes yes yes yes yes.
:)

I seem to be one of the few people in the fandom who doesn't hate Gwen, but don't really love her either. She's just, well, there.... *shrugs* Me? Apathetic? Never!

TW really kicks ass. Just like Jack and all of them. I heart Ianto and Tosh/Owen

The beautiful thing about TW is Jack Harkness, imho. He's -and I don't know who made up the word in the first place- pansexual and that can only lead to good things! *nods* You don't have to squint to see the slash. It's *canon* there :)

And don't forget the girl kissing... hehehe!

I love now normal Gwen is and her reactions to the "weirdness" that is Torchwood. I also love how seriously flawed and broken and real the whole team is.

Because it doesn't until the first season is nearly over? It didn't grab me until "Captain Jack Harkness"--and then it took me completely by surprise. I guess others fell in love with it faster.
I love Gwen. You should be warned, if you like her: a lot of people don't, and if you go looking for fans, you might see a lot of Gwen hate. :-(
