I've been thinking about my WIPs of late. I have a couple now and I don't like that I've got stories that have been exposed to the world that I never finished despite all the good intentions I started out with. I always promised myself I wouldn't do that and... I did it.

So, if you've got a WIP(s) do you have intentions of going back to it/them, do you know which ones are never going to see the light of day again? Are you in denial like me and keep saying to yourself that after X,Y,Z, you'll get back to it, you swear. Do you think of ongoing verses as WIPs? If you're a reader, do you see a chapter heading and back away slowly/quickly? Tell me about them, reassure me that I'm not alone... Or feel free to berate me about the ones I haven't finished, I'm pretty sure I deserve it.

I've finally, finally made a start on my SG-1 remix fic which *looks at watch* is horribly lax of me. I'm not sure why it took so long for me to work up to it. Mostly I think I have this kind of weird reaction to remixes of any kind where I get all keen and excited and then totally fail with the follow through.

I'm also a little worried about the way I'm remixing this time, taking a small element of the original story and kind of spinning outwards. I'm just hoping my remixee likes it or at least doesn't want to have me hung, drawn and quartered.

I keep writing these little stories in my brain while I'm driving or in the supermarket or lying in bed or whatever in other people's verses that I will never write because, you know, other people's verses when I should be actually writing my stuff. Ha... like, in [livejournal.com profile] poisontaster's Live Free or Die Hard 'verse I've got this whole scenario worked out where Matt accidentally runs into Jack's current partner in a Starbucks. *facepalms*

I've had an influx of new people of late *waves* and I promise to get my Master lists up to date because I'm very aware that's where most of them start out getting to know me.

I *want* to finish stuff before i post, but sometimes i'm so excited by the story that i just want to post naaaaaaaaaow!!. But i've never abandoned a fic. Well, thee is *one* fic that needs finishing but i just can't think *where* to go with it, and it's languished for quite a while.

I feel bad about it, but it'll be done eventually. I would feel like a jerk if i put out six or eight or whatever chapters of a story and then just....dropped it. That seems so unfair to the people who so graciously and maybe even eagerly read it and commented. Just my opinion, but i *do* think i have a bit of a responsibility to finishing stuff i put out there for public perusal. Of course, that's just *me*, and not to be taken as a rule or anything.

Of course, i wrote an S/X fic that ended and a lot of people were all 'omg, more!! it's not done!!' and i basically was like 'yes, it is. it's done. sorry i didn't spin out every last bit of cracktastica you wanted, but...it's done.' So...i dunno. Sometimes a story just won't go forward and you have to just let it lie. If it's never picked back up again it's too bad, but it *happens*.

Um. There. Enough babble for ya?

Hee, yes! My failing is that I post the beginning when the rest is still being beta'd and sometimes my stories really need to be torn down and redone and I just... it's hard to face.

Hehe.
I usually post with about half the story done, and then i'm writing like a fiend so i can actually finish in a reasonable time. My beta-person does a good job but as a rule what i give them is pretty finished rather than something in need of a lot of editing.

You're definitely one of the people I trust when I see multiple parts posting and just have to start reading right away before you're done posting... *grins*

You are indeed. I think reading your fics in chunks is actually what I enjoy most... not because they are hard going but because you pack so much into them that I need a little time to absorb each bit... :D
