-> Finished my Avengers xchange fic just in time for my posting date today. PHEW!

-> Okay, tumblr lesson learned for the day, IS NOT A WORK SAFE ACTIVITY. That's going to be an at home activity only from now on, yikes!

-> I'm not sure I'm getting the podfics done BEFORE Xmas so they will be January gifts! Basically, my flatmates were kind of hermiting in their room up until last week when I started doing the pod stuff and suddenly they are not! They are in the loungeroom and making food in the kitchen and basically being background noise, heh. Once I'm on leave I can stay up late when it's quiet to get stuff done. They were out on the weekend so I set up to record and that's when my neighbours decided to have fifteen or so kids tromp up and down the stairs outside our apartment door for like two hours, I'm not even kidding. It was constant noise without respite. The podding gods are against me.

-> Just need to get [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_xmas fic done. Almost there!

/delurk I recommend trying out two tumblr addons: Missing E and Tumblr Savior.

The former gives you a ton of very useful features that really should be baseline, including the option to have all images be gray placeholders until you mouse over them if you'd like. Tumblr Savior collapses posts containing words that you've put on your blacklist and vice versa. (You can click on the collapsed bits if you want to peek) However I will note that TS is dependent on cookies so if you're in the habit of clearing cookies every exit, your lists may end up getting wiped. Minor annoyance for me though)

Seconding both of these suggestions!

Tumblr Savior is a lifesaver for work-blogging. I block "nsfw" and "nws"--and you should check the "Match whole words only" and "show tags from hidden posts". Otherwise it randomly blocks all sorts of posts that are perfectly work-safe, and with the tags you can get a good idea of what's in the post.

Thanks guys!

I might check out the missing-e thing because the actual porn that turned up on my dash wasn't tagged. :(

hahaha, have you gotten missing-e yet? If not, you really should, tumblr is about 100% better with missing-e installed (and don't let tumblr tell you otherwise, they will periodically tell you that if there are any issues it's missing-e's called, but they are just jealous because we are all playing with other toys^.^)

If you have your own computer at work, you can also install a user script called "tumblr saviour" (you'll first need to install greasemonkey though). With that you can filter tags like "nsfw" to not appear on your dash if you want to. same with fandoms or spoilers or pairings etc.

That seems to be the consensus so I will be checking that out!

Yeah, you can just be rolling along in Tumblr, looking at Renner arm porn, then *bam*, actual porn. ;)

It's theoretically blocked at work, though I've asked to have it taken off since it's become such a major blogging platform recently. The "theoretical" part kicks in because the filter isn't very smart and I can go around it relatively easy as long as I don't try to go directly to a Tumblr. I can get to my dash though. ;)

Hehehee...

Most social networking sites at my work are blocked except for before 9AM, during 12-2PM and after 5PM. I think they gave up trying to block facebook completely and instead forced you to use it on your "lunch break". It's a good compromise. What's funny is that LJ is accessible whenever, but Dreamwidth is blocked except for the social networking times so more people at my work must be using DW.

I think my work is the same - I can access the Dashboard but get the social-network-blocked message outside of those times if clicking on search or actual blogs.

If you download Missing E for Tumblr, there's an option called Safe Dash that hides everything and let's you pick and choose what to look at!
