Why oh why did I not have this usericon before I posted Dead Man Kinda Shambling. Hehehee!

Insta!rec - I usually wait till Fridays but go read Blood and Water by [livejournal.com profile] lyra_wing. It's plotty, glorious apocafic with OCs you'll adore and older!Sam and older!Dean which I am unwittingly starting to have a yen for despite my best efforts.

On what I should be writing and what I'm actually writing - another installment of wing!fic is underway as a birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] purenightshade (she of the mighty enabler of me actually having fic on something other than LJ... woo!) and I think it's fast becoming my favourite one (apart from the first) because I decided to go for Jim POV. It's prior to a lot of the stuff in the rest of the series because sometimes to move forwards, you have to take a few steps back.

---
Jim watches the boys, noting the way Dean hovers and Sam rails against his invisible bonds, hampered as much by his family’s over protectiveness as the wings. Jim knows he’s being romantic, but he sees something of a shepherd in Dean, forever rounding Sam up, keeping him safe. Something bothers Jim though, itches at the back of his mind like a song on the tip of his tongue.

He knows there’s something else he should be seeing here other than two growing boys, even if one is unusually afflicted. Jim starts to research, careful only to do it when he is alone because he knows John wouldn’t stand for it. He’s caught the way John looks at Sam sometimes, like he’s asking just where the hell he came from. He’s seen that look in the eyes of some of the men in the town, the ones who aren’t sure the baby their toting around is their own but love them despite it all.
---

There's also an SPN/X-men fusion where Sammy's powers manifest early and he's taken as a mutant to Xavier's school. That's where Dean picks him up when their father goes missing.

---
“Samuel has lived at this school since he was eight. He’s never really ventured outside our protection and I have my concerns about him doing just that.”

“Are you saying I can’t take him?” Dean asked, mouth drawing down into a frown. He didn’t care how many kids that could blink in and out of existence this guy had. Dean was taking his brother, by force if necessary.

“No, not at all. There’s just some things you should understand before you decide to do so,” Xavier said, tone as gentle and level as ever. Dean could see this guy being a teacher and one that inspired kids at that. Something unsettled him about Xavier, though. He just couldn’t put his finger on it. It was possible it was the way Xavier's face collapsed into puzzlement whenever he thought Dean wasn’t looking at him.

“If you’re worried about him not remembering me-”

“I’m sure he does,” Xavier interrupted, a hand up in a placating gesture. “He asked for you for two solid months after he was brought here, before he stopped talking altogether for six.”

I have my ideas for [livejournal.com profile] sg1teamficathon and the Cameron!ficathon but they're just not... formed enough in my brain yet to get anything down. I'm really going to have to sit down over the weekend and make a concerted effort dammit!
