To whomever uploaded Dandy Warhol's "Good Morning"... I can't for the life of me remember who it was and I've trolled backwards through my flist but ye gods, thankyou! I've been listening to it on repeat like a crazy person... :D
So, as threatened, I'm amusing myself way too much with these...
20 things about Stargate: Atlantis that I hold to be my own personal canon.
1. Rodney sees John as the cool guy from high school he never got to be friends with. He doesn't realise that at high school, John was the small, weird kid who only grew into his looks at the age of sixteen. Like a puppy, John had to grow into his ears because before sixteen, he just looked plain goofy.
2. Elizabeth isn't exactly sure how she ended up leader of an intergalactic expedition. She's not, however, complaining.
3. Teyla wasn't sure what Elizabeth meant by a "Girl's Night" but it apparently involved lots of booze, chocolate and speculation about marine's asses. She's pretty glad she went along.
4. Ronon loves cartoons.
5. Elizabeth is relieved that the Athosians moved over to the mainland because she was honestly worried about the children.
6. Rodney is extremely good in bed. Mostly because when he had girlfriends in college, he asked a lot of questions. He likes being good at things and he doesn't think you should ever be afraid to ask if you're not sure where something goes.
7. Radek spent two years at an English University and lost most of his accent. He thickens it on purpose because he loves watching Rodney try to decipher what he's saying.
8. The only person who knows is Carson because yeah, same thing.
9. John truly never sees it coming. Mostly because he still thinks of himself as the small, weird kid from school. He's not being modest, he does know he's attractive but he just... forgets sometimes.
10. Ronon is observing an official Satedan grieving period. The only person he's actually told is Major Lorne. Mostly because he found out that Evan, who married when he was eighteen, lost his wife in a car accident only a year later.
11. John had a career military father and a mother who was emotionally checked out. He hadn't been hugged since he was three so when people do hug him these days he's really not sure what to do. He wants to be comfortable with it but he's not sure how. The best hug he has ever gotten is from Ronon, mostly because people won't notice how uncomfortable and awkward you are when you don't have feet on the ground.
12. Carson knows he has gotten too attached. He doesn't see anyway you wouldn't.
13. Lorne feels guilty for leaving because his mother is alone now. He's eternally indebted to General O'Neill who got his mother clearance so he could actually tell her where he was going. He wouldn't have left otherwise. He never wants to be MIA. He wants her to know.
14. John just wanted to fly.
15. Every now and again, Elizabeth thinks space vampires and has to laugh.
16. Rodney doesn't think of himself as arrogant. He believes in his intelligence above all others but he doesn't see that as a bad thing because, you know, he's smarter than everyone else.
17. Every once in a while Teyla will contemplate moving back to the mainland to be with her people. Then John will make a bad joke to cover being uncomfortable, Rodney will work forty eight hours straight without realising it or Ronon will get quiet and she'll know that she's needed in Atlantis more.
18. Ronon still expects to wake up in a cave on a backwater planet somewhere, delirious and with the knowledge that this has all been a fever dream. He goes to see Carson when it gets bad.
19. Laura Cadman knows things about Rodney she will never tell anyone. Despite how many contraband items John offers her.
20. John feels like he failed.
20 things about Firefly/Serenity that I hold to be my own personal canon.
1. Mal lost religion but not faith. He just moved his faith to the people around him.
2. In the beginning, Zoe would sometimes look at Wash and wonder what the hell she'd been thinking. Then he would smile, make a joke or touch her there and she would know.
3. Mal still wonders what she was thinking.
4. Simon doesn't think he's ever going to be able to fix River. He has to try.
5. Kaylee is five years younger than Mal thinks she is. She'll get around to telling him... one day.
6. Jayne isn't used to having a girl as a friend. He keeps thinking he should hit on Kaylee or something because he likes her alot and it just confuses the hell out of him.
7. Wash was a natural at piloting, which was lucky because his reputation before he got on the Serenity was mostly rumour, started by him.
8. Inara has no idea how she can like someone so much that exasperates her the way Mal does. She had her fortune read before she started her companion training and the woman had laughed and said, "You will find the one for you, but you must have patience." She thought at the time the older woman had meant that it would be a long time before she found him but now she's not so sure.
9. Mal respects the way Simon looks out for his sister, but Mal will never trust him. He can't trust someone that threatened to leave Kaylee bleeding on the floor like that. He knows deep down that Simon, no matter what Mal's decision, would have saved her but he can't let go of the memory of Kaylee looking at him with real fear in her eyes.
10. River scares the hell out of all of them.
11. Jayne honestly thought he was doing the best thing for all of them. He just doesn't see why you can't make a little money on the side.
12. Despite their differences, Simon knows that if anything ever happens to him, River will be looked after. He wasn't expecting to find family on those docks but he supposes that stranger things have happened.
13. Kaylee thinks it's hilarious that they all treat her like some innocent still. She has stories that would make even Inara blush.
14. Mal's a little scared by how much he loves them. Okay, maybe not Jayne.
15. Wash let River take the helm when everyone else was asleep. She talked about nothing and everything and she liked his dinosaurs. He missed his own little sister.
16. Jayne loves his momma. She's the only person in the whole 'verse he's afraid of.
17. River wants to be well so badly. It's just hard with the voices.
18. Serenity should have stopped flying years ago. She's held together with sheer determination. Kaylee hopes no one ever comes on board that knows engines because the kind of jerry-rigged patchwork she's done scares even her.
19. Zoe had thought that love wasn't meant for her. She's scared that after what happened, she was right.
20. If Wash had seen it coming and had known that was the only way for the others to survive, he would've done it again. In a heartbeat.
