Mostly because I want y'all to do this...
Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
My Holiday Wishlist
1. A post-card, Xmas card... anything in the mail that isn't a bill. I still really love snail mail and there's nothing like it. Hey, post yourself in the mail... c'mon! It's summer here for Xmas. If you're interested in sending me a little somethin' somethin' (and everyone that does will get return snail mail because it's only fair!) email to kellifer _ k at yahoo dot com.
2. Some long, meaty apocalypse fic from any fandom I like. I'm not choosy when it comes to the end of the world... :)
3. A personalized LJ icon. Doesn't have to be my name but something that you think sums me up. I've had the same default icon for a looong time now and it's probably time for a change.
4. A short, original fic, preferably urban fantasy or horror... loves it!
5. Music. Anything quirky or with a thumpy beat or score music. Especially score music because I love that stuff.
6. An apartment of my own. Okay I'm not really expecting to get *that* through the mail, just wishful thinking.
7. Action figure theatre. Hi-larious.
8. For you to treat yourself and tell me you did. Get a facial, get a massage, take a couple of hours out for yourself just to curl up with a book. If anyone asks why, you can tell them I'm *making* you do it by the sheer power of my brain from across the sea.
9. Call someone you haven't spoken to in a while and wish you had and tell me you did.
