I always get looked at around the holidays. I can feel it whenever people are talking about their plans and going home to their families. All I can see in their faces is one single thought.

Orphan, orphan, orphan

I figured the looks would stop when I got older, but instead the focus just changed. Now I get something slightly different.

Widower, widower, widower

Never a more tragic figure cut a swathe through the SGC, right?

I guess what they don't realise is that I do have a family and am closer to them than any blood relation could ever be. Sam would laugh if she caught me being so sappy, especially since we were all supposed to go our own separate ways only a few months ago.

Hell, I was supposed to be in another galaxy.

But I'm here, I'm having dinner christmas eve with Cameron, Sam and Teal'c and then I fly out to Washington for a few days to sleep on a lumpy couch, drink too much beer and eat a Xmas dinner comprised of day-old pizza and smuggled chocolate.

Nope, couldn't be happier.
