Zoo trip: The Good

-> There are now pictures of me feeding giraffes! I was basically speechless and awed the entire time we were seeing them up close and they really are amazing and pretty. There were baaaaaabies!! We basically had three behind the scenes tours and it was a small group so we got really close to all the animals. My new favourites are the wild dogs (so much bigger and cuter in real life than you are expecting!) and the bongo. The bongo is SUPER cute and SUPER pretty up close and also has a name that rhymes with where it's from so all around it is awesome.

Zoo trip: The Bad

-> On the same day, on two different occasions, I dropped A. my wallet and B. my mobile phone in toilets. DON'T ASK ME HOW. The wallet survived and initially I thought the phone had too after some drying out because it switched on and pretended it was FINE - however the phone was only alive until I got it home. I tried to plug it into the charger, it said it wasn't charging and then pretty much died.

The reason this is bad is because my phone is ANCIENT and I like it because of that. It doesn't have so much as a camera on it, was one of the first color screen phones and just kept surviving despite what life threw at it. (I thought I was going to have to replace it when after YEARS the battery started to die, but I found a battery that matched my YE OLDE PHONE in a forgotten cupboard at work - FATE!!) I'm hoping I can get something similar (I only want my phone to be a phone, why is that so hard??)

ETA: Success! Voice guy had drawer full of old handsets. I have now managed to go backwards in technology as the phone he gave me is older than my old one... hee!

Fingers crossed for the phone. And I feel the same way. I don't want to watch tv or surf the internet or listen to music or trade pictures on my phone, dammit.

I just don't want to be contactable in all mediums all the time. I'm happy to morph into a cranky old pensioner when it comes to phones. :D

Sometimes I miss having a phone that was just a phone (plus T9 for texting). And then I have to know where I've seen that one actor before and since I don't want to pause the movie I'm watching, I check IMDb on my phone and think how in the world did I live without it. /firstworldproblems

(But actually, yes, I really do miss T9.)

Heh... I'm sure if I ever manage to get a new fangled phone /crotchety then I will wonder how I ever lived without it!

Wheeeeee!
Giraffes!
:)

And bah about the phone - mine is only a phone, too, and i keep it cuddled close. Those cheap trac/tack phones from the horrible w-m don't have much in the way of extras....

I'm sorry for your loss. I feel the same. I love my old phone although it doesn't sound as old as yours. I don't want or need all that other stuff. m :)

I will miss the old guy - he survived many a droppage!

I've only just moved to a nokia with a camera... I needed a phone that hooked to blue tooth. Would make my life a little easier. So, completely understand. I wanted to remain on a phone that is just used as a phone as long as possible!

I know that once I finally make the switch I won't know how I lived without it... but while I'm living without it I'm quite happy. :D

AHAHAHAHAHA Awesome for ancient phones that have, like, a rotary dialer. I hope it's the size of a shoe and weighs a good eight pounds. Hee.

I'm honestly famous for dropping my phones in toilets/sinks/bathtubs/puddles. I do it so often that I finally gave up and searched for a phone that was waterproof, which THANK GOD because it's now the first phone that's lasted for more than a year.

Honestly, I can drop my phone into my beer when I'm at the bar and not worry about killing it. Also, the looks that I get from other people when I do it are awesome.

As far as your zoo experiance goes, there is possibly NOTHING cuter than baby giraffes, especially with those little fuzzy Dr. Seuss horns on their head.

They are the cutest! We were so close, I was entranced. :D

Eyelashes! Prehensile 17-inch blue tongues! What's not to like about giraffes?

I'm glad you found a replacement for your phone. I cling to my low-tech, phone-only device, too.
