Big Bang; I really should be working on other things; recs a'comin'; cards

-> Posting the xmenbigbang today! It's all coded and ready to go, just need the art links which I can't get because I totally forgot I can't access Yahoo mail from work... d'oh! Hopefully it will still be December 5th somewhere in the world by the time I get home.

-> I have things that are due in like, 2 weeks, and yet I'm working on another Steve/Tony Avengers fic because at the moment, that's my brain candy.

“What are you doing here?” Tony asks and then winces inwardly when Steve freezes. He’s not sure why he can only speak asshole when Steve is around him.

“It’s a... team thing. I’m part of the team, right?” Steve says. His jaw has firmed, mouth a stubborn line but his eyes are unsure. Tony’s come to understand that despite the muscle-bound Adonis exterior, inside Steve is still a skinny kid from Brooklyn, walking around with a big 4F stamped on his forehead.

“You don’t have anything to bring to the table,” Tony says and boy, he is really fluent in the asshole tonight, possibly throwing a bit of dickwad into the mix just to spice things up.

“I’ll cover him,” Natasha volunteers, eyes narrowed. Apart from Pepper, she’s the scariest woman Tony has ever met, yet like everyone else seems to, she has a soft spot for Steve.

“I have money,” Steve protests and bless him, digs a wad of bills out of his pants pocket.

“We do not play for currency,” Thor intones. “This was discovered to be an object in frustration considering the vastness of dear Tony’s resources.”

Steve’s eyes go round when Natasha splits a pile of papers that she was holding and hands him half. “Goods and services only big guy,” she says and that’s probably the most diplomatic way of putting it. “You lose my cupcake maker and we’re going to have words.”

-> I think I need to start making with the recs again because I have been reading way more lately than I've been able to in a while. I'm a bit scatter-shot with my reading at the moment but Chris Evans seems to be my constant the way I'm devouring Jensen/Cougar, Steve/Tony fic. I think I might have to revisit his movies because my affection for him has increased dramatically in the last little while. I love that there seems to be a lot of crossover with the Inception people into the Avengers fandom.

-> I NEED to get my holiday cards out this week, considering they have to cross an ocean for most of you. Argh! I'm such a procrastinator!! It's my worst quality.

I think I'm recognising a formula whenever I write them. Tony is a dick but doesn't really mean it, Steve is oblivious but secretly smitten and Tony is secretly smitten to but doesn't think Steve would ever want him and so does THE WRONG THING ALL THE TIME. :D

I'm right there with you--Chris Evans is my fake boyfriend. I have watched The Losers, Push, Fantastic Four (tho not the sequel--blech), and Cellular (which I still contend would make an amazing J2 fic) multiple times.

Oooooh... I haven't seen Push or Cellular so I'm going to have to hunt those out.

Oh my god, the horror of Fantastic Four. I might have to endure it only because of nearly!nekkid Chris. They are TERRIBLE though. I'm just glad Losers is fantastic.

Have you seen Sunshine? I loved that movie (if I switch it off about 20 mins before the bizarre bit at the end where it becomes A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FILM WTHE!!) and CE is wonderful.

Push is an amazingly bad good movie. Great potential, but falls flat. Still watch, because I adore Chris' character and his interaction with Daokota Fanning's character. And they have powers!!! I love powers.

Fantastic Four (the first flick) is actually pretty good. And Chris is wonderful in it (and, yes, he is mostly naked in one scene). He has chemistry with everyone.

I did see Sunshine. I, too, enjoyed until the end. It actually reminded me of this star-studded B-movie from years ago: Solar Crisis. (Can't reccommend, but I still end up watching it whenever it's on TV.)

What was going on with that Sunshine movie?? It was the amazingly taut sci-fi thriller and then suddenly BOOM - B-Grade monster movie?? It was almost Dusk Till Dawn jarring.

I think they were trying to do an interesting "twist", and they didn't realize the movie itself (and the acting) was interesting. No twist needed.

[Love the comparison to "Dusk til Dawn." I remember watching that movie, not knowing what was coming, and just went...huh? Once I got into it, I dug it, but I still tend to re-watch the last half and ignore the first half.]

OMG- I love it! Natasha has a cupcake maker?!?! I'm not sure what I find more amusing- that she owns one, or that she's super concerned that Steve will lose it. However, since Steve was running with the Howling Commandos back in the day, I think he's going to be a shark at the table. He looks innocent, but I bet he can play a good hand of cards. ;)

I'm assuming we'll get a flood as soon as the movie is released... or we hopefully will. I'm generally not this early into a fandom (pre-release) so I'm not used to having to wait. *kicks feet*
