This has been making the rounds and I'm not sure anyone would be interested in asking me anything but... *shrugs*

Ask me a fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Favorite character, favorite moment, unpopular opinion, something about a fic of mine... whatever. Wackiness encouraged.

Hi, new friend here, so please excuse me if you have answered this before.

What was the first fandom you become interested in, either on-line or as a fan.

The first fandom was SG-1 - up until then I hadn't realized that there was such a thing! The first *fanfic* I wrote was before I knew what that was and it was basically a Mary-Sue Young Guns fic when I was like, eight or something... hehehee!

The whole fanfic thing, I was actually introduced to it by someone that I was staying with and she charged me SG-1 fic as rent. :D

Fanfic is basically like cheeseburgers for me. Fun and easy and I enjoy it although I feel mildly uncomfortable that maybe it's bad for me afterwards. Hee!

The main reason I stay is for the people, the community feel of it. Writing is a very lonely thing and it's wonderful to have people that would basically be willing to read/bounce ideas off about anything.

I also think writing's like anything, you really need to practice to stay sharp. I had an RL friend who basically told me that my writing had improved astronomically and I know fandom-writing has a lot to do with that. I pick up tricks, drop bad habits and really smooth off the sharp edges by doing this.

Okay, here's one... what's your opinion on Castiel? I've noticed in your fics (unless I just managed to miss a huge chunk of fics), you almost seem to avoid him. What up with dat?

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Castiel is actually kinda rare for me where I love fandom!Castiel as much as canon!Castiel. Usually I swing one way or the other pretty sharply.

The main reason I think I don't write him very often is because I tend to set most of my stories in a nebulous season2-3 time period, pure and simple. When I have Castiel in a story, I tend to be writing something Castiel-specific. I don't tend to use him as set dressing. I have no idea why I stick to that time period, mostly I think because it had more room for me to create my own world for the Winchesters. The more the series reveals, the narrower the world I can create for them myself.

So..... Favourite of the favouritest fandom and characters? XD!

Hmmm... I'd have to go old school (for me!) and say SG-1 and Daniel Jackson. SG-1 mostly because it introduced me to fandom as a living, breathing thing.

Obviously Supernatural has taken over my brain but SG-1 will never truly leave my heart.

SPN is a brain eater. And there is just something about SG.
