I went to a Roller Derby match a couple of weeks ago and I am in love. There's a Fresh Meat program next year and I am so there.
I'm making dinner for 9 people tonight.
I made dinner for 9 people last week.
I'm obviously taking my crazy pills. Bah!
So, writing wise, this is what I want to get done before Xmas. I'm on holidays after next week so I'm hoping that I'll get all these done in a big, crazy push. I used to knock over this many stories in a month and I really want to get my mojo back.
1.
apocabigbang.
No snippet because I think it's a nonny mouse? Not sure, should check the community at some point... heh.
2. SPN Gen - Robot!Dean. Now titled (in keeping with the first story's title after a Philip K. Dick story) 'Now Wait For Last Year'.
3. His Dark Materials story. It's either going to be Gen or light Sam/Dean but this one seems to be writing itself and hasn't told me yet.
4. Okay, so maybe I've been having a Sheppard/McKay hankering of late and I owe my lovely Sweet Charity requester a make-up story for being so patient.
5. Getting back into a Daniel/Jack frame of mind too for the story I've been meaning to write in forever. The Mitchell/Daniel, Jack/Daniel one where Jack realises he's been a complete tool for not taking what he wanted when he had the chance and now it looks like it's too late.

2. SPN Gen - Robot!Dean. Now titled (in keeping with the first story's title after a Philip K. Dick story) 'Now Wait For Last Year'.
Dean's never experienced real loss.
He's lost things over the years, or at least, Sammy has misplaced stuff that was allocated as his but the idea of real loss is something that he can't quite fathom. He doesn't ever really want to find out because he's pretty sure the only way he'll experience it first hand is if something happens to Sam.
They visit Bobby Singer, someone who regards him a little like John used to and a little like one of the banged up old cars in his lot. Bobby's never been as cold as John, but he's still wary. Sam calls Bobby a technophobe and Dean understands he means it affectionately and also as a way to make Dean feel better about the careful distance Bobby maintains.
Bobby loves Sam though, the same way John did, the same way Dean hopes he does if he's been able to piece together the concept right over the years and so Bobby is someone Dean feels comfortable broaching the subject of Sam with.
"Is it because of Jess?" Dean asks, sitting at Bobby's kitchen table while cleaning a carburetor Bobby had thunked down in front of him with a make yourself useful look.
Bobby, washing up the plates from their breakfast, turns slightly so Dean can see his profile and his frown. "What's because of Jess?"
"Why Sam wants to... " Dean casts about for the right word but what Sam is doing is so completely illogical that it freezes everything inside him for a moment. Finally he huffs out, "Save me."
3. His Dark Materials story. It's either going to be Gen or light Sam/Dean but this one seems to be writing itself and hasn't told me yet.
The first time Dean hears about the man with no daemon is when he overhears two hunters discussing the best way to kill him.
"I hear he's good with knives," Bart Fellows says before taking a sip of whatever rotgut was his poison of choice.
"You know what happens to guys with knives. They get shot," Shelby Ashton rejoinders, intentionally or more likely unintentionally quoting a Tarantino movie.
Dean's expecting to feel appalled, and he is at the casual manner these two grizzled old guys discuss putting someone down, but he's also intrigued because from all accounts, the man is a hunter himself.
"Just gives me the heebies," Bart continues.
Possession's always a possibility with folk who are still upright and have no daemons. Poor sods don't have a chance once the hell spawn takes up residence, cleaving themselves between the person and their daemon so violently that the daemon never survives. If the hell spawn vacates while the body's still ticking then all that's usually left is a gibbering shell that doesn't survive much longer itself.
Shapeshifters, boogeymen and some harpies could appear as two legs and all would be without daemons of their own. Werewolves had 'em but they were so twisted out of true that you just knew something was up looking at them.
None of those were likely to travel the countryside, killing evil things.

The manga is AWESOME! ^^.
Yotsuba is the little girl with the four pigtails. The girl who lives next door built Danbo with a friend for a school project, but Yotsuba thinks he's real. Hehe.
