Or more accurately dust.

*coughs*

We're having a severe dust storm at the moment and the air is red, there's red dust covering everything including my car and we had a severe thunder storm last night.

I woke up to no hot water, no TV reception and no power in my end of the under-building car garage.

All I can think when I look outside is Silent Hill because it looks like that's where I'm living.

That, or Mars.

Eep!

Yasminke and I have been discussing whether this is the apocalypse.

*coughs with you* At 7:30 when my alarm initially went off the light coming in through the windows was a brilliant orange. I'm still at home, my dad shut up the house a bit after 7:30, and I blew my nose when I got up and I had red dust in it. Blergh. I think I'm not moving from the house today.

They were playing 'End of the world as we know it' in JJJ this morning when I turned it on.

Ha!

I wish I didn't have to - but lack of hot water and TV prompted me to make the trek to work because they have showers here.

I *nearly* couldn't come in because the underbuilding garage has a storm door which closed off between our section and the other side and since the power was out I didn't think I could get my car out of the garage. Darn it, you can prop the storm door open and the other side was working. Boo! :D

It was a bit skeery driving though because it really looked like red fog once I got on the M5 and they keep opening and closing the M5 because the air quality was going up and down. I snuck through in between openings.

*nods* We have power, so we're all good on that front. On the other hand, I really can't afford to miss the day of the PhD.

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

The rest of the building has power - I think we just lost external power which affects the garage and unfortunately, apparently the hot water. D'oh!

I'm hoping it will all magically be fixed by the time I get home. :D

I was thinking Mad Max or Total Recall

Both my kids woke up to me singing "It's the end of the world as we know it". The youngest woke up looked outside, went "Holy Sh*t" then went back to bed.

Just make sure you have a flashlight and a radio, just in case. Never know where there are mutants lurking...

It's up here in Brisbane now too. My dumbass landlord has still not fixed my windows (it's been 6 years!) so there is dust everywhere.

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

:( Oh noes! At least my apartment is dust free - even if there is no hot water and no teevee. :(

New South Wales (sydney) - it's apparently hit Brisbane today as well.

ah! I forget you live in Australia. Um yeah I guess there would be quite a bit of dust due to the drought. But from what I'm hearing it's worse than normal.

I just saw pictures of the Sydney opera house . . . in red. Unbelievable. I started reciting portions of the Grapes of Wrath in my head.

I just saw that on the news. Jeez... looks creepy as hell!! How do you even breathe outside? O_o

We're actually doing okay water-wise at the moment in NSW. We got a dust storm in from South Australia.

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Hee... it was very eerie. It was bright but you couldn't see at the same time. Soooo odd!!

Very carefully. They suggested people with asthma stay inside.

From: [identity profile] elusive-life-77.livejournal.com

I saw pictures of it on MSN today and it looked wild. The picture of the opera house in red looked apocalyptic!

(Aaaaaaaaaand now I have "it's the end of the world as we know it" stuck on loop in my head!)

Hope your power and water come back on dude. Take good care.

Yikes! Sounds very drastic! I remember when I was in Monument Valley, and how the red dust got everywhere, but there was nary any wind at all.

Good fic fodder though ;)

Hey, honey pie. =) You alive out there? This sand storm business sounds serious. -.-;

Anyway, sorry to bother you, but I've been thinking about making a master post of the pdfs I've made of various peoples' fics. Since it's kind of a touchy subject and all, I wanted to ask you if you'd mind if I linked to the pdfs I made of your fics? I'd also put up a link to your original posts, of course.

If not, never mind. Thanks anyway.

Please - go ahead. :D Just drop me a line when you post.

Sorry I've been MIA - my work blocked Livejournal again (they do it every six months or so for a few weeks ... I'm hoping this time isn't permanent!!) and I just don't get time to get on here except on the weekends otherwise. :(

From: [identity profile] raphe1.livejournal.com

Hmm, well now that I know you weren't umm dusted ;-) (glad you are ok) I can unsubtly mention my birthday was October 3. :-)

From: [identity profile] too-rational.livejournal.com

Thank you! *hugs* It'll probably go up in a few minutes/hour at the most, so I'll be back soon. =) Oh, and I've added the doll!castiel snippet to the pdf, so the corrected version (here) will be linked.

Aww. =( Bad boss! Sucky thing to do. =P

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Argh, I know.

Work blocked Livejournal out of the blue and that's where I was posting from about 98% of the time and I was also writing straight into my journal in the mornings and my lunchtime because i just don't get time in the evenings or weekends. Argh!

I am about 3/4 through your birthday gift and waiting on the sweet charity fic to come back from beta (with hopefully not too many revisions!).

I will have 2 fics for you in your birthday *month*... !! I swear!

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Awesome!

Looking forward to it and to checking out the others you've done. :D

Hope you don't mind if I point peeps in your direction when you post 'em. :D

From: [identity profile] too-rational.livejournal.com

One PDF Master Post, here you go. ^_^

And sure, point away at will. Share the happy! =)
