So, since there's a week left till new SPN (for anyone that isn't me stuck here in sunny Australia *tragicface*), how about some five things prompts to celebrate?

Obviously SPN, nearly anything goes and I will do... not necessarily the *first* five but I will do five if I get 'em.

I'm in a writing mood. :)

Five ways Dean makes Ben Braeden's life better/safer/richer

He doesn't mean to keep in touch at first, but letters start showing up in their various postboxes. He's not even really sure he gave all those addresses to Lisa, but that's a story for another day.

When he and Sam are down to their last five dollars the letter is in the postbox Dean was really hoping would have a couple more credit card applications.

He doesn't know why he replies, must have been lack of sleep.

Hi Dean,

My mom finally told me who you were and who you thought you were which makes you acting like such a goofball more understandable. Hope you don't mind me writing but there's just some stuff my mom wouldn't understand.

Anyway, I'm not growing as fast as the other kids and I'm starting to worry I'm going to be some short-ass dork.

Am I going to have to put up with only an inner-cool for the rest of my life?

B.

Hey Ben,

You know that giant monster of a man I was with when we got you kids out of the house? That was m'brother and up until junior year he was the shortest stack in all the pancake house.

True story.

Quit worryin'.

Hi Dean,

Mom has this new guy and she wants him to come live with us. I've been the one to take care of her since I can remember. I also don't really want a dad, think I'm too old for that.

I know she wouldn't let him move in if I really kicked up a fuss but I don't... really want to do that.

Ben.

Hey kid,

Trust your gut. If the guy pings your radar as wrong then put your foot down but if he treats your mom right then maybe you should give him a break, she's a nice lady and deserves someone decent.

He doesn't have to be your dad but maybe you won't hate the idea so much after a while.

Check his music collection first though. You see one Fall Out Boy CD and you gotta kick him out.

Stay cool,

D.

Dean,

My mom keeps crying since Dave left.

B.

Hey kid,

You just give me an address.

Hey Dean,

Soccer or football? My mom says I can only do one because my grades aren't that stellar.

B.

Hey kid,

My brother says soccer which is obviously the girl answer so football all the way.

HOWEVER, for your mom's sanity, maybe go out for baseball. Less risk of getting your spine squished.

Dean.

Hey Dean,

I think I want to do what you do someday.

B.

Ben,

Don't.

Dean.

♥!

Oh, B's! (Ben & Boys, if it's not clear enough. ^_~)

Thanks so much, honey; I love it! *hugs*

Awwww! Now I remember why I thought Ben was just about the coolest kid ever (when most children I honestly find pretty annoying). Maybe it's just the Dean Effect, though... anything in proximity of Dean becomes cool by assocation.

One thing without question, though, Dean in this fic? He ROCKED.

I love the idea of Ben keeping in touch. His words of wisdom to Ben are pretty well....wise. Sometimes I so wish Ben was Dean's. I can pretend right?

tears the heart a little bit. Would love to see more of their point of view as they read them, and the reactions around the events listed in the letters!

Great work!
