So... very quickly checking in to say that I have been hit by an audit at work and have been working 15 hour days the last two days. Just got home tonight, will sleep for a few hours and head back in...
I missed the deadline for the Urban Legend Challenge - did get the story back from beta but had to do revisions and just haven't been able to.
"Red Sky" is coming but have exactly the same problem.
To tide you over (and break
kuwdora's brain because she says I post too much fic (heh), another episode tag-y previously written but not posted challenge fic from Gateship list. (If you're not on it, you should be... ;) )
Title: Where Have You Been All My Life
By:
kellifer_fic
Written: Episode Tag - There But For the Grace of God
Rated: G
Is: Ficlet - Daniel - (Background S/J)
Summary:
It was the rain that forced him into the black car and off the street. The crushing defeat of the disastrous lecture made him listen patiently as the old woman before him told a fantastic story of Gesa and something she found. He handles a gold amulet gently with the eye of Ra engraved on its surface, and although it fascinates him, after the day he's had, he just can't bring himself to... hope.
The woman smiles and lets him go despite the disappointment in her eyes.
In another part of the country, Doctor Samantha Carter spills coffee on her hand and lets out a hiss of pain. She picks up the phone handset and dials a number quickly, asking her brother if everyone is okay.
He assures her that the family is fine and asks why.
She can't explain the feeling of overwhelming sense of loss that has suddenly enveloped her.
***
"Look at this."
Sam has research materials spread all over the bed, even though she knows he hates it. He has already protested loudly that there is no room left for him and has gone to get a late beer, because he knows that it bugs the hell out of her. He is sipping it lazily and takes the proffered sheets of paper she hands up, scanning them quickly.
"What a kook," he chuckles, tossing the research paper behind himself. "Pity we can't tell him that he's right."
Sam nods and wonders why the name Doctor Daniel Jackson rings familiar to her. Jack starts shoving papers off the side of the bed and she loses her train of thought trying to rescue them.
When he grabs her round the waist and threatens to pitch her off the side aswell she is laughing. The research paper gets kicked through a tiny gap under a chest of drawers in the ensuing battle.
Out of sight, out of mind.
***
The man across the table is speaking crazy, but she believes him.
He's just a boy, she thinks. A boy in a soldier costume.
Daniel Jackson... Daniel Jackson... where do I know that name?
The thought cycles lazily through her brain, but there are more pressing matters.
There are always more pressing matters.

Our lab had a corporate security audit last July and it lasted for three weeks! With interviews and write-ups and whatever they wanted on-demand, I thought we were all going to rollover and die. I'm very impressed that you were able to eek out any kind of fic at all!
