Title: Two Men Walk Into An Intergalactic Substation
Words: 294
Fandom: SPN/Star Trek (Reboot)
Pairing: Sam Winchester/Bones
The partially inebriated youth in front of him is having trouble with the name McCoy.
"Call me Bones."
"That's a funny name."
"I think it was meant to be," he says. He was meaning to have a quiet drink before he was due to meet Jim in their first break for a long time and he wasn't quite sure how... this had happened. The kid is skilled, no doubt about that and may regret kneeling on a bathroom floor that doesn't look like it's had a clean-bot near it in an age but goddamn.
Bones wracks his brain for a moment before he comes up with the right name. "Hey, Sam?" he starts, getting a hand down to curl fingers around Sam's ear. He tugs, harder when Sam doesn't pause in what he's doing which is making Bones' mind currently leak out his ears. "Where are you from?"
He has no idea why he's trying to make conversation when this is happening, he always babbles when he's nervous. Mostly about disease and death which puts most people off and oddly, endeared him to Kirk. He thinks he was talking about Anteluvian Psoriasis when Sam grabbed a fist full of his uniform front and dragged him to the bathroom.
Sam wrenches free with a noise that Bones will be hearing for a long time to come when he's alone and has a hand free. "The Impala," he says.
"That's a ship, not a home," Bones says, frowning down at the top of Sam's head. He's leaned, Bones is hoping not slumped, forward to rest his brow just under Leonard's belly button.
"Same difference," Sam says. "My Dad was Captain and now my brother is so I think I've been on it longer than anywhere else."
