I recently read the J2 version of Anne of Green Gables and I bet you'd kick ass writing a J2 or Sam/Dean version of a classic novel....'Wuthering Heights' would be my choice (because I'm a sap at heart) but anything along the lines of 'A Christmas Carol' (trying to be festive here), 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn', 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' (Jared as Mellors - omg), 'Lolita'....

I think I'd go for the Sam/Dean/Castiel threesome where the boys end up as angels and all three of them have wings. There shall be fluff. There shall be feathers everywhere. There shall be apple pie topped with whipped cream.

I figure I'd sound like a broken record if I kept asking bugging you for Daniel/Sam W or Cam/Sam W from the league Of Fairly Unusual Gentlemen, so anything with Castiel or Bobby (I *love* how you write him so much!). Bonus points if you can work Castiel/Dean as BFF into it!

Alternately, if you watch it but I doubt it cos I haven't heard you talking about it yet, *points at icon* Arthur/Merlin from the BBC series.

Noooo... I haven't seen it yet. Apparently we're getting it sometime next year. Although a friend has offered to hook me up. I'm really dying to see it because lots of my favourite authors are already writing what will probably be very tasty fic and I'm bereft because I don't know who they are writing about!!

Is that how most people feel at the end of that fic? I just don't see the hope in it at all - because Dean doesn't have forever to search, and Sam's making it clear that he's got limited time before he heads off to college and the future accorded to a real boy.

Personally I think it ends tragically, with Sam choosing to go to college, no longer needing his Big Brother and quite happy to leave him, just like canon - and the blue fairy being a pipe dream to salve Sam's conscience when Dean's time runs out. I thought you had planned the way the harsh finality of Dean's situation (and the eerily close parallel between the fic and canon) was brought to light - and don't get me wrong, the bitter pill made for an awesome unflinching memorable ending, but it made me cry and cry.

I saw this entry. And I thought to myself, Self, it is not even a month since she posted this, of course she won't mind your cheek.

And I personally would like some Ronon/Dean John/Dean more of the My Daddy Didn't Have Days Like This 'verse. Unless you've already done that and I just fail at trying to navigate your tags. XD

I really like that different people take different things away from a fic. I've had some fics where people think they are crack-y fun and others think the same fic is devastating.

In all honesty, the ending for them is murky for me as well. I want it to end happily but there is definitely a scope for it not to go that way at all. I didn't want it to be definite because I think it would lessen the story I had in mind and the particular story I wanted to tell somehow.

I don't want to think of Dean alone after all he goes through, slowly winding down and yearning for the boy that left him behind but... it's possible and it makes my heart hurt to think of this Dean like that.

Maybe I didn't finish it because sometimes my stories end the way they want to without a lot of intervention from me (or at least that's how I sometimes feel) and if it organically went that way I would have to write it to not cheapen it and then this Dean would be left forever gathering dust and sorrow.

Or slowly winding down to the inevitable end...

I do want to write another piece in this verse and oh my god, just the idea of John/Dean or Ronon/Dean makes me pleased beyond all measure. This is a gen story though but I'm not adverse to creating a cut scene that sits outside the story... heh.

I did kind of leave them alone on the Beta site poor little mites so I really should rectify that.

Aye, I can see how having it set down in black and white would be traumatic! For author, reader and Dean! I do like where you've ended it, it fits the narrative perfectly - I just don't envision a happy ending because of my childhood trauma! ;)
