I was going through my old papers at my parents house and came upon my old English (the subject) work. One of the exercises that I always seemed to get awesome marks for was finishing another piece of writing... as in, you get a paragraph or a whole story and you continue it...

Hmmm... writing in someone else's world and matching their writing style/characterisation... what possible use would I have for that skill in the real world...?? Hahahaaa...!

Anyone who's willing, write me a paragraph or a sentence and I will continue it. Who knows, maybe some of them we'll write back and forth so much that they will take over the world...

Entertain me... there's nothing on television!

Watching them now, celebrating because it had been months since the last fall, I swallow hard. They might be celebrating but all too soon the reality will once again rear its ugly head.

That this is it, this is all there is.

I turned from the window, blocking out the frantic view. I noticed my hands were shaking, and I quickly put the books down. I closed my eyes, but the slapping rain, pounding it's own rhythm, forced my brain to replay the events that had led me to the central thought marching around my tired brain.

Bright and blue... sun and daisies.... But there was a scent of rain on the horizon too.

May was the last time I had seen flowers. December before that a lake. As the world slowly wilted and faded so did its people.

Who was I to take away from them this small chance to be happy, as short-lived as it was going to be.
