Sam and Daniel had been going on and on about the signifigance of it all, Teal'c standing by, mutely patient as always when Jack tossed his arms out wide, a universal plea for silence.
"Can't you guys just enjoy a sunset?" he asked, fond frustration coloring his tone.
"Sir, there's two suns," Sam spluttered, as if the very idea of just sitting back and letting it go by was unthinkable. Daniel actually had a hand up, finger pointed and mouth open when Jack waved a hand in his direction.
"Ah! I don't want to know the benefits or the potential catastrophe we're looking at. I just want to look at something and think, wow, without knowing that it's going to kill me in ten thousand years if I were to stand here that long."
Daniel looked abashed as he closed his mouth and Sam had the good grace to look a little flushed.
"So," Jack said, making an expansive gesture that encompassed the spectacle they were all missing while arguing. All except Teal'c of course who knew better than to try and get Sam and Daniel just to enjoy something for the sake of enjoying it, when he could just enjoy it himself and tune them out. It was a kind of zen thing Jack needed Teal'c to teach him.
"Two suns," Sam repeated finally, as if she couldn't hold it in.
"I know. Double the sunset. I'm going to make you guys appreciate this in a simple way if it kills me. Or both of you."
There were no further objections, save Teal'c turning one upraised eyebrow on Jack, who held up an imperious finger again. "Don't you start."

I've been slow to come over to SG-1, yanked into this fandom purely because of Ben Browder, but happy to have been drafted. Now I appreciate the original cast mix in a way I never did before. The characters and actors have a chemistry that speaks for itself and it's good fic like this that enhances those portrayals : )

Oh I have missed the simple pleasure that is SG-1! Once more you bring it back to where it is so true... Sam and Daniel would be doing some wacky calculations, Jack just trying to "enjoy the moment" and Teal'c... well he always had the nack of silence down!

Yeah huh, if only Teal'c silent zen-ness wasn't diametrically opposed to everything that Jack is.
(Am very excited - SG1 DVDs are now selling for $45 at JB HiFi and I finally feel able to afford them. Yay!)
