Second Batch of Responses - (F = Friendship, P = Pairing)

Daniel Jackson/Cameron Mitchell (P) - "You can tell what kind of relationship a person wants by the kind of pets they choose."

Puppy Love

“No way.”

Daniel looks up at Cameron and raises an eyebrow. “And why not?”

“Because that,” Cameron intones, pointing a finger at the small dog Daniel is cradling in his arms. “Is a girl’s dog.”

“There’s no such thing as a girl’s dog,” Daniel dismisses, standing and rubbing his hand over the tan and black head of the tiny mix-breed that’s staring up at him in adoration. The dog looks like a cross between a Jack Russel and a squirrel. “Plus, the last two you picked out looked like they could devour me whole.”

“What’s wrong with wanting an actual dog and not a… accessory.”

“You’re unbelievable,” Daniel sighs.

“What? Do you want one of those cute little purses to carry it in too?” Cameron asks, crossing his arms over his chest.

“This is the most ridiculous argument we’ve ever had,” Daniel snaps. The girl who was showing them around the place eyes them with something way too close to glee for Cameron’s liking. “Fine, we’ll get two dogs,” Daniel offers.

“My dog is going to eat your dog accidentally when it’s yawning one day,” Cameron warns and Daniel rolls his eyes.

When they move back through the entrance, Daniel heading for the larger kennels ahead, the girl leans towards Cameron. “You two are just the cutest ever,” she enthuses.

The world never opens up and swallows you when you’d most like it to, Cameron thinks.

Sam Anders/Alice (P) - "I thought you were dead."

Earth Bound

To say that Earth, once they found it, was disappointing is a little bit of an understatement.

They find a planet burned dry of life and water by a plague unlike anything ever visited on the twelve colonies. Those that should be dead walk upright and while most were able to get off world again, the initial scouting party was left behind. It’s not the first time the fleet have abandoned the few to ensure the survival of the many.

Sam Anders, after four months, finds himself completely alone.

Well, not completely.

“I thought you were dead.”

Her name is Alice and he’d found her in what looked like an abandoned military facility. She disappears for weeks at a time but no matter how much or how far he moves, she always finds him. It’s comforting in a truly creepy way.

“No you didn’t,” she dismisses, not letting him get up from his bedroll, instead straddling him where he lays. She could be demure or a vixen depending on her mood. Sometimes Anders feels like he co-exists with dozens of different people who all look the same. He gets a different one every time she arrives.

“I’m starting to feel a little used,” he says, clamping hands on her thighs to stop her moving. She reaches down and grabs his wrists, pulling them away and then pinning them above his head easily. He’s always dug strong women. His daddy used to say they appealed to his self-destructive side.

“I can stop… using you,” she offers, undulating slow and easy and he has to bite his lip and roll with her for a moment. He tries to think of other things because she often likes to tease, bringing him to the edge and then pulling away. Tonight though she goes right for his belt buckle with determination.

It must have been bad, whatever she did.

“Alice,” he says and she jerks a little, like she always does when he says her name. She lifts the mesh straps of cloth she calls a shirt away from her body and there’s a fine arc of something across her collarbone.

He knows it’s blood.

She curls forward, burying her head in his shoulder but not letting go of his wrists. He’s not allowed to comfort her, he never has been. He drops a kiss to the top of her head and he feels her relax.

Oh, man. Poor Sam, all alone with nothing but dead people. And Alice.

This line? His daddy used to say they appealed to his self-destructive side. made me hoot with laughter.

But, oh, man. Stuck on a planet with nothing but Alice and dead people....

Well, at least it's better than a Special Destiny.
