So anyway, sandwiches it is and Rory has her head in a book so she doesn’t see the pole she’s about to walk right into or the man who notices for her, hooks her elbow and jerks her out of harm’s way and into him. She stumbles a little, drops her book and looks up into his face.
And up, and up and hey, she remembers this particular neck-crick well.
“Dean!” she exclaims and he turns, because he was about to just keep on going about whatever he’d been doing and mustn’t have recognised her. She wonders why though, because a book in front of her face was a regular Rory Gilmore accoutrement and she would often be unaware of Dean’s presence back in Stars Hollow until a finger had hooked over the top and tilted her book down.
He looks taller, if that’s at all possible and like an adult. There’s something vaguely unsettling about that and she’s almost ready to apologise because maybe she’s just run into an oddly similar looking stranger when he smiles.
Dimples carve deep in his cheeks and the crinkles around his eyes are deeper but it’s him.

“You’re not supposed to say ass!” a voice piped up from behind them and Dean and Sam both spun around to see a small girl with wings made of coat hangers, stockings and glitter standing behind them. Her eyes were wide and she was pointing an accusing finger at Dean. It dropped though when her eyes shifted from Dean to Sam and her arms came up instead.
Sam looked from Dean to the little girl and back again before he realised what he was meant to do. He leaned down and scooped the girl aloft and she squealed, thrusting her arms over his shoulders so she could bury her hands in his feathers. At that moment Kelly Peters also appeared around the side of the house, looking a little frantic. When she spotted Sam and Dean with her daughter her whole demeanour relaxed and she smiled.
“Sorry, she got away from me,” she apologised, moving towards them, rubbing her hands off on a dish cloth that was slung over her shoulder. The smell of BBQ and the sound of voices carried to them on the evening breeze and Dean grinned when Kelly hooked a thumb over her shoulder. “Food’s that way.”

Edited to add: LJ's status page going down the same time as LJ? Maybe due to mass panic? :) *clings to shiny journal* (Just a reminder: I'm Kellifer_fic at Greatest Journal aswell. However, it's a bit with the tumbleweeds over there... I keep meaning to rectify that and then this teensy glitch made me realise that I shouldn't wait until LJ actually goes down... *slaps forehead*)
