Friday Fic Recs: Multifandom

I completely failed to read much this week. I've been packing for the most part... I keep seeing stories on my flist and going "Ohhh... I'd like to read that" but because I'm skimming I completely fail to bookmark/remember and are then crap.

I have a paltry two stories to offer today so tell me, what have you read this week/month that you've really enjoyed and I'll add it to the post. :)

And Back Again by oxoniensis, (GG, Rory/Dean) - I'm not sure why it took me so long to find her but I'm glad I did!! I can just devour these stories like cheesecake. They're sweet and intensley satisfying.

At The Hour When We Are Trembling by frostfire_17, (SGA/SG-1, Daniel/John). This is apoca!fic and plotty and long. It's just wonderful.

I'm always doing that with stories - sometimes I remember whose journal I saw a story on, and remember to go back and find it, but sometimes it gets lost and forgotten, which is sad! Of course, other times, I just end up with so many open tabs I get lost!

I'm not sure what fandoms you read yet, so here are just a couple of recs, fun things.

Courage and Pluck by silverweave (Doctor Who/Angel, Ten, Martha, PG-13, 1,103 words)
Fluffy (hah) fun.

The Pegasus Tinies: A Dreadful Abecedarium, with Selected Illustrations. by argosy and _kiden (Stargate Atlantis, multiple characters, G)
An A to Z of Stargate deaths, in the style of Edward Gorey - incredibly well done. And much funnier than my description makes it sound!

Oooooh... thanks hon! I've never watched Doctor Who so I might be a little lost on that but I'll definitely check out the Atlantis one. :)

Actually, I think all you *really* need to know about Doctor Who is that he's extremely curious (i.e. nosy) - the rest is all Angel canon really.

Do you watch Pushing Daisies? I can give you three good Pushing Daisies recs if you do.

I'm in Australia and we haven't gotten that here yet... we might over the summer maybe... we've been getting a bunch of shows at the same time as the US this year so we're getting a hiatus which is not the norm for here... we're usually so behind that they show a whole season of something uninterrupted...

A couple more recs in fandoms I'm certain you read, in that case. One older one, an AU, which is something I wouldn't normally read, but this one gripped me:
The Pegasus Device by liketheriverrun (SGA, Sheppard/McKay, Ronon, Carson, Teyla, etc, T, 41,000 words)

If you don't read Sam/Dean, sorry, just ignore this rec - I don't read a huge amount of gen fic in the fandom though, and most of what I have read has been yours!
American Myth by candle_beck (Supernatural, Dean/Sam, adult, 11,525 words)
This was just incredible - I thought the way Sam and Dean were with each other was spot on, and the main plot line, revolving around the Impala, was both unusual for the fandom and pretty much guaranteed to have every fan on the edge of their seat.

Hahahaa... I don't usually but I hadn't really heard about Pushing Daisies so I didn't know to snag it from somewhere... what's it about and is it worth it making the gentle enquiries... :D

I *love* Pushing Daisies. It's sort of magical and timeless and beautiful and quirky, and so charming and funny and adorable...

Basically, Ned (the piemaker) has the power to bring the dead back to life, but only for one minute otherwise someone else will die in their place. If he touches them again, they die. He resurrects his childhood sweetheart, Chuck, to ask her who murdered her, only he can't bring himself to let her die again. So now she's alive, but they can't touch. Which sounds potentially awful, but is just handled so well!

And then there's Emerson Cod, the private detective, who Ned works with sometimes, solving murders (Ned is a piemaker full time) - Emerson likes knitting! And is incredibly snarky, especially towards Chuck. He basically makes sure the show is the right mix between sweet and funny.

And there's Olive, the waitress at the Piehole, and Digby, Ned's dog. And Chuck's aunts, a synchronized swimming team called the Darling Mermaid Darlings.
