-> I keep saying I'm going to be staying with LJ till they turn the lights out on me, but man it's getting harder. It's like, I'm living in this apartment building where I know all my neighbours and I can walk to work and there's a park and trees down the road, but the apartment owners want us OUT so they can flatten the place and build a mall or something so they keep randomly shutting off water and painting closed windows and fumigating without warning so we all get dizzy and have to wait outside for a while.

-> To WIP or not to WIP? The TW/GG fusion fic is coming along but I've basically got one section done that is Derek POV and has a natural break and now I'm onto the second half which is Stiles POV and I'm planning on posting it as 2 chapters but... do I post the first Derek chapter now or do I wait and post the whole thing. I hardly ever do WIPS.

-> Ugh, have to work tomorrow (Saturday) this week. Poop.

I want the TW/GG now. *makes grabby hands*

yeah, I know about the LJ thing. I just posted an entry here and I'm thinking I'm going to cross post to tumblr or something if I can figure out how the read more works. I may get into the habit of posting more at tumblr instead of reblogging pretty pretty pictures of super hot werewolves and their human counterparts.

I googled for you! :D I always figure, any questions I have, someone else has already asked the internet.

Just replace () with <>.

I feel exactly you do about my LJ darling. We just been here too long to just delete this place...

I know people wish everyone would just move over to Dreamwidth but it seems like people scattered in different directions coming off LJ and it's the only place still with most people. :(

Such a perfect and tragic analogy for LJ :(

AND SO LONG AS I HAVE A PAID ACCOUNT, I'LL BE HERE SQUATTING TILL THEY ACTUALLY TEAR DOWN THE PLACE.

To me, the perfect solution is - import your journal over to DW, and post from DW so that nothing is 'lost'. People have the option to reply here or there, and you, of course, can build a flist over there.

Most of the comms i follow are here on LJ, so i'm staying - I do the xpost thing and it's very simple, as was the import. So that's my solution, because there's too much to lose if i just abandon the lj ship.

I have imported - I just have to get used to posting over there.

Ooooh, I just noticed the fugly post-everywhere craziness is gone from the reply box - maybe they realised that that stuff was cra-zy.

Yeah, I grumble but I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. :)

Personally, I really dislike LJ. No way to really participate in the community. To me, I just moved into this apartment building, like in Tales of the City, because I fell in love with this awesome city, wanted to be part of this awesome community. I know a little about my neighbors, and they all seem like people I'd love to get to know, but everyone's busy with the electricity and work and dance contests at The EndUp, and I'm kind of busy too. And this building isn't set for parties, there are no tenant meetings, no activist groups, no comfortable way to get to know any of the people I moved here to get to know, or to participate in any building functions. Mostly, it's about awkwardly going door to door, introducing myself. Which is not for the faint of heart. I miss Cleveland :)

I definitely moved in knowing some of the tenants already which made the transition easier.

Feel free to knock on my door any time - I will have coffee and cake waiting. *hugs*

This is exactly how I feel. I love my neighborhood, my friends, my trees and my apartment but dayum, the landlord makes me want to go.

I know right?

I just want to know who these people are that *like* the changes?? There's got to be some somewhere otherwise why do it and annoy your userbase? I understand when people say not to complain about the free social media sites because they *are* free, but LJ has paying customers and making sweeping changes with no conference is just bizarre. What company that wants to keep their customers does that?

From: [identity profile] saberivojo.livejournal.com

Not only was there no conference - I sometimes feel like maybe there was a SEKRIT conference and they found out what we wanted and liked and then they do the exact opposite

I'm so glad I decided to try dw years ago, since building a flist and a feeling of community takes time. When things started going really sour for me here on lj(constant trouble loading/commenting, plus all the incessant "improvements" and blatant disrespect of the user base), I already knew a lot of great people on dw. Maybe you could try it? Just stick your foot in the door, start crossposting, do some interest and site searches or a friending meme or two. True, the amount of fannish communities is still small, but it's been improving bit by bit as more people show up for our little block party. Plus, we love the landlord, and the Super shows up whenever something's broke, asks you how you might want to have it fixed, and then sets about doing just that! It's been shockingly wonderful.

I know people come off as a nag sometimes with the whole dw shtick, but it makes me a bit sad to see people get squirmy over the changes lj wrings them through over and over again, when there's such a lovely apartment building right across the street. If everybody just moved house, we'd still have the same lovely community going ;)

i knoooooow - I just worry that people have moved from this building into like, 4 other buildings instead of all migrating across to the one and it makes me sad. :(
