DW

([personal profile] kellifer Oct. 31st, 2012 08:44 am)
So I've been reading about the livejournal changes with increasing fretfulness... mostly because I wanted to stick with LJ, I wanted it to be a bitter end type dealie, but the upheavals seem to be enough to prompt people to actually migrate where the blackouts etc couldn't. It *might* be like those times where everyone thought they would have to leave but then no one really did but I just get this feeling that it's bigger than that this time.

I kinda want to hold onto this account until the lights are shut off, but I might start updating my Dreamwidth more regularly (I run an import every few weeks, or MEAN to but the last one I left for longer than that) or work out this crossposting thing. I LIKE my LJ, it's taken me a long time to get it exactly the way I want it and I resist change at the best of times (which is kinda funny, since my job is Change Management... heh).
I also just... don't want to be forced into a tumblr like I was forced onto facebook. >:/ (There's only so many invites you can completely miss before you admit defeat).

Anyway, I'm [personal profile] kellifer over there. Let me know if I've missed subscribing you back, or you have a different ID on there.

In better news, first [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang posting day in T-9ish hours (I have to wait to get home from work, boooo!).

This change isn't so bad. I actually think it's an improvement.

Of course, I do realise I'm in the minority here.....

I'm james over on DW, I've added you there just in case you end up making the change completely. :o)

I'm also shinysylver over there and just added you. Right now I only use DW as a back up and also want to stick with LJ to the bitter end but I also want to be prepared at DW just in case.

I don't use my friends page here that much - I rely on email alerts to keep up with things. I'm on DW though - I'm Amberdreams over there. I;m like you, I keep meaning to cross post and import and keep forgetting!

I have to admit, this is the first time I've considered moving off LJ. But I'm going to wait and see. (I'm the same name over there, just in case.)

I'm arliss at DW and Tumblr. I'm a little in despair, actually. It seems like more people on my flist and the comms I read, and the challenges I follow, are migrating to Tumblr, rather than DW. I use my Tumblr entirely differently than my LJ and DW. I know I can set up another Tumblr as a fannish one, I just don't see how it will be as intuitive for that as LJ has been.

I originally set up my Tumblr as a fandom-free space, but of course that didn't last. And I find Tumblr *far* more widely-fandomed than my LJ has been, which is distracting to the ADD-challenged (ooh! shiny!) and makes getting through my Tumblr feed ever more problematic.

I'm old and tired and I hate change, and I've got a serious mad on for LJ's masters right now. I hate being mad, too. Pftui.

I've done *nothing* with my DW account, but if LJ decide they're changing the style of my flist, this may be the final straw. There's one aspect of the change that I might like, but I don't think it'll be enough to outweigh the layout change...

I'm sticking around till this crashes and burns too XD, but I'll see you around on twitter!

So I've added you on Dreamwidth - I'm onthehill over there. Now gonna cut you from LJ :)

From: [identity profile] slvrbld747.livejournal.com

Hi, yeah, I am over there too, but it's just a back up. Name isn't that different. Slvrbld47, grins, not that original. I can't remember If I have you on DW or not, but I think so. I'm hoping not to have to change things too drastically either. -SB

Well I am probably going to stick to LJ till the bitter end but that doesn't mean I wont really miss (and lament the loss of) my pretty friends page.
I use DW often, cross-posting is thankfully easy. I follow you here, and now, follow you there as well.

I think I added you in the last big migration scare? I haven't fully set mine up yet (I'm using the same name) but I'll be backing up my LJ pretty soon and will probably be using DW more often and crossposting. I'm not willing to bet that LJ will listen to their users. =/

I don't want to leave, Kel! *clings*

This change is devastating to me. I am HYPER anal about my flist and how it looks/how I read it, and if LJ takes that away from me, I don't know what I'll do. There will be no reason for me to keep a paid account (and now the rumor is that they're going to do away with paid accounts, anyway?? UGH). IDK, I've stuck around through a LOT of sky-falling drama and angst, but this might be the final straw for me. I'll still be around, but probably crossposting to Dreamwidth and/or Tumblr.

It's so depressing. :(

I'm trying to switch to DW (same name here & there), I'm not as in love with it as I was with old LJ but since we're losing what I loved anyway I'm trying to adapt before I'm forced to adapt.

Why do thing have to change when I've got them arranged just the way I like them?
