-> I might be starting my second [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang story again...? As in, a completely different story. Am I crazee? Basically, there's some major problems with the other story and I've started thinking that I like it too much to try and do a patch job and get it out just because it has a deadline hanging over it and I might be able to kind of work on it and get it there without that pressure. So, instead there might be the Clint/Coulson parallel story that I'd been thinking about from my [livejournal.com profile] avengers_bang story.

-> Saw Cabin In The Woods and it was very... different. I definitely enjoyed it but it's one of those weird movies where I'm not sure I would want to see it again. Joss Whedon however is still the master of unexpected humor. Heh, two women sat next to us left about fifteen minutes in because the movie wasn't what they thought it was going to be?? (We know this because they had a NORMAL VOLUME conversation about this fact, not even trying to be quiet.) I'm just left thinking, it's a movie about a bunch of young attractive people going to a secluded CABIN IN A WOOD. What kind of movie did you think you were seeing? Granted, it's not your traditional slasher movies, but you don't even know that fifteen minutes in. We think they were supposed to be in the Bolshoi Ballet screening that was showing at the same cinema and got REALLY confused when there was no dancing.

-> Also saw a screening of The Birds at the State Theatre which was fun although I think they'd remastered the sound and the bird screeching gave me a vicious headache. Also, most of the audience was in hysterics through the whole thing because the suspenseful shots didn't really age or translate well to a modern audience. It was really interesting to see a movie with no music at all, we're so used to music dictating the mood of a movie and what we're supposed to be feeling.

The Birds really hasn't aged well, which is kind of disappointing, because I'm sure that it was terrifying when it was first released. (Speaking of movies with no music, have you seen the 1932 version of All Quiet on the Western Front? The only music in it is from a couple scenes where the crowds are singing a German war song. It's so intense to watch, though, that you don't even notice that there's no soundtrack music.)

There was a lot of lingering shots and drawn-out sequences that just don't give the same suspenseful vibe they might once have. The kids running down the hill away from the birds was too long that it became ludicrous instead of scary but I can imagine back when it was shot, it had an impact.

Is this the story we've been sort of tossing ideas around for? :) I think you can do whatever you set your mind to. <33

Yes! You've given me HEAPS to think about (all of it amazingly insightful and lazer accurate to the problems I was having with it!) and I don't want to end up unhappy with it as I try to squash it into a semblance of right with a deadline in the distance. That's a story I might have to resort to tinkering with and fixing up at a more leisurely pace.

I would LOVE to share the alternate story with you if you don't mind though hon! It's going to be the parallel story for Turn Around Three Times (Clint/Coulson redux). :D

I think it's a fantastic story with so much potential and I'm really excited to see where you go with it! :)

Of course!! My inbox is always open! <3

you have to see if you'd be more productive writing the new story or butting head with the one that doesn't work... you seem to write fast enough so that any option is doable, now do the one that would be the more fun and less stressful for you!

wow, those women seem very rude. and heck, they could judge it was not what they thought after 15 minutes? on the other hand, they left so I am sure it was better for you after.

I haven't seen Birds since I was something like 12 years old, I remembered it being frightening at the time. the music is always what scares me the most in a horror movie, though, that's true.

I kind of felt... unsettled by the movie and there was something wrong and only after about halfway through did I realise that it was because there was no soundtrack whatsoever, except for the bird screeching, eesh!

With the Big Bangs, I am writing two stories so if worse comes to worse I'll end up just submitting one which won't be the end of the world I guess... :D
