I always look at the WIP amnesty thing and think... I wouldn't actually abandon a story. I have this weird need to finish everything and usually have stories completed before I start posting them. They might not be completely beta'd but they're close.

Then there's Abscido. This little SGA story about John and Rodney being taken by one of Sateda's nations and forced into the military. This was an AU set where Sateda's remote location on the very edge of Pegasus meant that they had survived more cullings than most planets but had started "recruiting" from other places because they were now in the midst of fighting off the Wraith. John and Rodney were taken while on a planet called Ra-Yeda during a routine offworld mission and they meet Taskmaster Ronon because of this.

I started posting without finishing (which I NEVER do and now know why) and had written myself into a corner where I just wasn't happy with where the story was going. I basically backed away from it because it hadn't gotten much response at the time and I thought I could just look at it as the one that got away.

The first part was posted a year ago and to this day I'm still getting asked about it... I hate HATE when people abandon stories that I have started reading and liking and I'm very careful about whose WIPS I will start reading because I have been burned too many times. I guess my problem is that I was probably one of those writers people trusted to finish something and I have completely failed with this one.

So I'm going to. I know where the problems are and will basically tear it down and restart it, keeping the elements I like and abandoning those that caused the problem in the first place but I will finish it. Hey, you can't say if you don't prod me enough something won't happen... :)

To those of you who have kept at me about this story, all I can say is soon... I promise.

Has it really been a year since you started it? Wow.

I had hoped you were going to continue it, but I figured it was unlikely as you had been seduced into SPN. (So have I so I can't complain too much. *g*) It's good to hear you're going to pick it back up; I think the premise is intriguing.

Hee... I have definitely been seduced but I'm still writing SG-1 and SGA... hey, the latest ficathon I joined was SG-1.

I had been neglecting SGA a bit because I hadn't watched it in a while... but then I pretty much inhaled season 3 over the last two weeks and now I'm all keen again... :)

I'm terribly fickle... hehee...

As one of your many (I am sure) lurkers and as an enthusiastic purveyor of your writing, I would just like to add that I am very excited that you are picking this particular WIP back up. It was one that had always stuck with me, and I look forward to reading more. I appreciate how you are contentious of finishing WIP's and I wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed all your writing, both in SGA and Supernatural. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us!
(BTW- The Blade still makes me flail every time I read it)

Hehehe... time and distance have made me see the problems with it... probably most notably was that I started it as an OT3 story and I'm pretty sure it wants to be gen and that's where I was having trouble...
