I've had swelling in my throat for four months now... Now my ears are blocked. *glares*

Anyway, a friend suggested we do ear candling and I was like "Bzzzzuah?" (Yes, I've been to the medico and gotten the traditional remedies aswell... eighty bucks of allergy medication later... crap!)

Apparently, you stick beez wax candles in your ears and LIGHT THEM!! It sounds like something you would do to a younger sibling when they've been pissing you off for a very long time.

So, I'm going to try it and hopefully it will not end in Charlie Chaplin-esque slapstick with me running around her house with my head on fire yelling "I KNEW this was a bad idea!"

I'm remembering a time where I looked at 105 user icons allocation and thought "what kind of crazy person could use that many?"

Yeah, them were the days.

Another RLF found this journal and commented on a story... *hands* That's two now (apart from [livejournal.com profile] pheebs1 who I can *technically* call a RLF now since I've met her... heh) Luckily, it is the cool, not likely to tease me within an inch of my life friends who are finding me.

I'm thinking my fic journal and my real journal are a leetle too similar in the naming but I can't be arsed renaming my fic journal. I know people do it and it's all fine and dandy except when I see their journals on my friend's page and am all like "Who the hell are you??"

Heh...

Anyway, next time you hear from me, I may be bald due to conflagration.

Peas out geez.

I saw a bit about ear candling on a tv show a while back. Short version: It's a waste of time.

Here's a link with info: http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a5_098.html

Oh my god... melted wax on the eardrum?? Eek!

Hmmm... I may have to investigate before I actually do it.

Oh, you'll have to tell us how the candling goes. I've heard of it and even know people who've done it.

As far as I know, no one's head ever caught fire.

Good luck!

Please don't burn your ears off! However, I'm interested to see if this works.

Won't it hurt? Don't burn your hair in the process. Eeeek.

From what I've heard, ear candles are one of those things that sound plausible, even logical in a way, but don't actually have any effect. But I'd always thought they'd be fun to try... unlike the vibrating glasses my mum bought once, to help improve my sight. Result: one very itchy nose. *eyeroll* Vibrating glasses - I ask you.

Just my 2c. *g*

Ear candling, huh? I'm in natural therapies (massage therapist) and I know lots of people who have had it done. Some say it works, some say it doesn't. Me? I dunno. But one of my friends had it done to help lower the inflammation in her throat and it worked after nothing else did.

Maybe it's like reflexology - all in your head.

...

Um... I didn't mean to pun. :-P
