Prompt: This is two requests smished together, for
stargazercmc and
shaedowcat. John and Cameron in a bar and John/Lorne friendship. This is what happens.
Lorne isn’t quite sure he’s heard right the first time.
“I’m sorry, can you say that again?”
Maybe he just wants to hear it out loud twice. You know, for posterity.
There is an impatient huff of breath on the other end of the phone and then Lorne can just picture the patent John Sheppard eye-roll. “I said, I’m in jail. I need you to come bail me out.”
“I’m your phone call?” Lorne can’t exactly say why this tickles him so much. It just does. “Was I the first person you tried?”
“Yes Major, because you know the meaning of the word discreet.” Sheppard huffs another sigh and Lorne suspects that he is starting to regret his choice.
Lorne may be having a ridiculous amount of fun with this, but he also knows when to stop torturing someone.
“On my way, Sir,” he says.

When he gets to the address Sheppard has given him, he’s surprised to spot Daniel Jackson standing outside, nursing a Styrofoam cup of coffee. Towards the end of his stint at the SGC, he had come to know Daniel quite well and he could appreciate a guy with backbone, who wouldn’t back down from his beliefs, even if they were unpopular.
“Doctor J!” Lorne calls as he jogs across the street and Daniel’s head shoots up comically fast, before he relaxes and smiles.
“Evan, I didn’t know you were back as well,” he greets, shuffling his coffee to his left hand so he can shake Lorne’s with his right.
“You were offworld when we came through,” Lorne nods, noticing that Daniel has another styrofoam cup on the ground, bracketed by his feet. As he watches, Daniel finishes the coffee he’s been drinking and leans down to retrieve the other one, taking a long swallow.
“Yeah, six-eight-nine,” Daniel muses, taking his glasses off with his free hand and rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Torrential rain ninety percent of the year.” He gives a little shudder and Lorne chuckles.
“What are you doing here anyway?” Lorne asks and Daniel smirks.
“Same as you I suspect. Picking up a wayward pilot.”
“Colonel Sheppard?” Lorne asks, confused. Daniel shakes his head, finishing off his second cup of coffee.
“Colonel Mitchell,” he corrects.
“Were they arrested together or is this some kind of wacky coincidence?” Lorne asks, feeling strangely surreal.
“Drunk and disorderly, the both of them,” Daniel says and Lorne blinks.
“You’re kidding.” He’d wanted to. He’d really wanted to, but he hadn’t asked what Sheppard had been arrested for. Obviously Daniel has no such qualms when it comes to Mitchell.
“How long you guys been onworld?” Daniel asks.
“A day.”
“You’re kidding?”
“No Sir,” Lorne responds and then cants his head. “Why are you still out here?”
“I’m trying to compose myself. I don’t think Cam would appreciate me in hysterics while I’m paying his bail.”
Lorne can see his point.
He can also see a coffee cart just down the road.
