You've made me a very, very happy reader. I'd begun to think it was perhaps one of those prompts that just doesn't work, but, no, this is a perfect companion to Slow and Steady.
Makes me want to hug Rodney for finally getting John to where he can take some comfort. It all breaks my heart a little because you chose such believable reasons. It's lovely that John is aware enough to understand what Rodney is doing and still hopeful enough not to fight it. Part of him does want what he always should have had.
