surrealphantast. Yes, it's early but it's done and I didn't want my harddrive to eat it.
Notes 2: Borrowed one of the lines from Simon Tam... :)
Restricted to base
Cameron Mitchell had learned to dread those words early on in his new career within SG-1. Going through the Stargate was almost, almost, as good as flying but the waiting around when disaster struck really and truly sucked.
There were now fifteen alternate versions of SG-1 in the mountain and more coming in with every klaxon. One of the teams had already tried to make their way off base, claiming to be the ‘real’ SG-1 and so had spoiled the party for everyone.
With a grimace of regret, or perhaps maniacal glee, Landry informed them that the risk was too great and he’d have to restrict everyone to base.
Everyone.
Cameron frowned at the jello in front of him then his eyes ticked up to Sam who had with only a small protest allowed him to wait it out in the lab with her, although at the time she hadn’t expected him to bring food into her inner precious sanctum.
She’d said snippily that while Jack had driven her crazy at times, he had never dared do that.
Cameron had just smirked, sunk down on the stool opposite and had taken a heaping spoon of the jello. She’d scowled and told him that the least he could do was share.
When he’d said get your own, he could see annoyance in every line of her body. Sam was fun to wind up. Daniel was too easy and Teal’c nigh on impossible. Sam was the perfect mark, sometimes you got to her and sometimes you didn’t.
Cameron liked the challenge.
He was starting to suspect he was a hair breadths away from being kicked out though so sat quietly, eating his jello and watching her hands move through the guts of a gizmo he knew nothing about except that it was important.
Had to be if Sam was working on it.
Cameron looked up to see Daniel stride halfway passed Sam’s office, before he halted and turned slowly in the doorway. Cameron smiled and waved him in. “Come in and join the party,” he invited and saw Sam tense anew.
“I am actually busy, you know?” she snapped, but her tone was all exasperated affection and Cameron decided he could probably push his luck a little further.
Cameron watched as Daniel smiled and entered the room, dropping a hand on the back of Sam’s neck and rubbing gently.
Cameron blinked.
Sam’s scowl melted and she leaned back into Daniel’s touch as it firmed. “Oh okay, if you keep doing that, you can stay,” she sighed.
Cameron frowned. Okay, he thought, Jackson is usually touchy-feely but there’s a line you don’t cross.
Then Cameron thought, unless they already had a while ago and he’d just never noticed.
Maybe not. He watched as confusion crossed Sam’s face when Daniel leaned down to run his lips across the nape of her neck. He also wanted to point out the fact that he was sitting right there and while Daniel could be oblivious at the best of times, this was a stretch even for him.
“Daniel?” Sam’s tone was touched with the same confusion as her face.
“I’m really bored and I can’t find a deck of cards,” was Daniel’s only explanation as fingers found Sam’s jaw and tilted her face up to meet him. She opened her mouth, probably to protest but Cameron watched as Daniel captured her bottom lip, sucking it into his mouth and all that issued from Sam was a surprised squeak.
“Ah…why don’t I just…” Cameron dropped off his chair and rounded the table, as close to sprinting as you could get in a small room, but Daniel’s arm shot out and caught his elbow on the way passed and Cameron had time to think for an intellectual this boy is strong before he was propelled into Daniel’s side, Daniel’s arm hooking around his neck and pulling him snug.
“Now where do you think you’re going?” Daniel growled and leaned forward, tracing Cameron’s jaw with his tongue in a long, hungry swipe. Cameron’s squeak of surprise was about as high as Sam’s and out of the corner of his eye he saw the hand not securing him in place, dip beneath Sam’s shirt. Her eyes were wide but she was arching her back, pressing her skin more firmly into his touch and that pretty much obliterated any noble resolve Cameron had to get the hell out of there.
Daniel chuckled, the sound vibrating against Cameron’s skin.
“I had a feeling about you two,” he sighed.
“Is this what going insane feels like?” Cameron asked seriously.
xxxxxx
Daniel had disappeared straight after and Cameron and Sam had headed for the commissary, feeling more than a little peckish. They didn’t know whether to be embarrassed, mortified or completely blown away about what had just happened and thought that their world was just a little bit insane if doppelgangers wandering around their SGC wasn’t the weirdest thing that had happened that day.
Cameron caught Sam looking at him over her heaped plate of salad and watched as she flushed and ducked her head.
“Should we… you know, talk about what happened?” Cameron asked, wanting to find where the hell his straying professionalism had gone to and thinking it was probably cast aside around the time he had his pants around his ankles, with an archaeologist on one side and a scientist on the other and his mouth firmly attached to said archaeologist’s chest, sucking the skin for all he was worth.
“Not on your life,” Sam snapped, shovelling a mound of cheese, tomato and lettuce into her mouth. “If you utter a word just remember, I can kill you from a distance.”
Cameron snorted. “I gotta say, of all the people to make a move, Jackson would be the last-“
“Is this you not talking about it? Remember, distance death.” Sam interjected, but there was a spark of amusement in her eye.
Right at that moment, Daniel dropped into a boneless heap in the chair next to Cameron, dumping books and papers onto the table in front of him and nearly knocking Sam’s lunch into her lap. She rescued it at the last moment.
“Hey guys,” he greeted cheerily, before starting to sort through his papers.
Sam was frowning at Daniel and Cameron felt a cold chill run up his spine at the look on her face. He pretty much figured he’d had the same exact thought at the same exact time.
“Where you been?” Cameron asked slowly.
“Down in my office, why? Look, I know I lose track of time and I probably should have eaten earlier but you guys are only eating now so I’m not the only… what?” Daniel was looking from Cameron to Sam, who had both paled and were staring at him with their mouths open. “What?” he repeated.
Cameron cleared his throat, his pallor being replaced by a violent red flush. “Look, do me a favour and show me your chest for a second.”
“What?” Daniel exclaimed, blinking at Cameron owlishly.
“Just… I know it’s weird. Could you trust me for a sec?”
Daniel still looked mystified but he just shrugged and unbuttoned the top of his BDU shirt. He had a black t-shirt on underneath and so pulled that sideways and down, exposing his left pec, smooth and blameless.
“Ah…oh… um,” Cameron looked at Sam and she was wearing the exact same horrified expression. Cameron looked up and saw another Daniel Jackson pass by their table. He smiled mildly in their direction, rubbing his chest absently.
“Oh, I, um, gotta go,” Cameron squeaked at the same time Sam said “There’s things, need doing, in my lab!”
Daniel watched them both beat a hasty retreat. He shrugged, pushing his papers aside and retrieving Sam’s half-finished lunch. He straightened his shirt, taking a moment to pull it down to the right to look at the perfect, livid, mouth-shaped bruise that had formed and wondering if it was a problem that pilots couldn’t tell their right from their left when under duress.
Daniel grinned to himself as he ate.
He would tell them.
Eventually.
