So.

One half of the couple I live with is American and he has recently been pining for Captain Crunch cereal. (he has resorted to Froot Loops... urgh). I was thinking of asking if any of the US f-list would be willing to send me some as a surprise and I would cover postage etc but then wondered if anyone would like to swap fun packages?

So, let me know if anyone is interested and if you're willing to trade Captain Crunch for a bunch of random Australian items (or specific ones if you have requests).

I tried to send some stuff to Australia a while ago and you guys seem to have some SERIOUS rules when it comes to shipping in food. Maybe Captain Crunch is enough of a non-food-food-item that it would be allowed, but powdered salad dressing and dry muffin mix, both in original packaging, were apparently too risky. O_o

Definitely can do! I'd take anything but Vegemite. ;) lol

Okay, here's the list of what food can't be shipped to Australia, and surprisingly both cake mix and powdered salad dressing are clearly excluded. ~boggles~

But as long as Captain Crunch is less than 10% dairy and contains no seeds (and, yeah, not sufficiently food for either, I think), then it should get through.

Those restrictions will crimp my selection of other random stuff to throw in.

Oooh, I would totally do that. Regular Cap'n Crunch, Peanut Butter, Crunch Berries? As far as exchanges, Cadbury's (no nuts) or Tim Tams. Or whatever you like.

I think anything that can be classed as vegetation (the salad) is a no go. Maybe dry bake ingredients are seen as risky because of the flour/weevil thing.

We regularly get candy and the like from the states so that works ... heh. :D

Send me your address to kellifer_k@yahoo.com and we will organise!

Doesn't have to be strictly food items either. :D

He has a preference for Crunch Berries. His absolute favorite apparently is the Frankenberry (??) which is the Halloween one I think but I'm assuming that only comes out in October.

The other day Tim Tams did a promotion in the city where all the trees in a whole block were Tim Tam trees and you could pick them!

[livejournal.com profile] missyjack already mentioned the website, but what about SugarFix? I know they have the BEST PopTarts, all the Hershey's crap, canned pumpin for pie, and oodles more.

Also, which flavour Cap'n Crunch -- 'cuz if it's the peanut butter one, I'm right there with him. If not -- blergh.

He said the peanut butter was his least favourite but he still liked it. I think the all-time favourite is Frankenberry (??) but that's only October right?

PS -- Frankenberry is all year round. As is Count Chocula but they're not Cap'n Crunch. They're General Mills. CC is by Quaker Oats.

I interrupted above. Different brand. Frankenberry and Count Chocula used to have awesome ads when I lived in the US.

Ah - I thought it was just a flavor of Captain Crunch and that it was only available at Halloween!
