Usually, I am slow moving like pudding hopping from one fandom to the next. I started out in Stargate (and yahoo groups, dear, dear, yahoo groups) and basically stuck with it for a few years. Then Supernatural hooked me in (I don't even remember how - I remember avoiding it like the plague initially). That was a long (and still enduring considering I'm working on my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang) relationship.

Like molasses, I moved on to Inception, because a movie hadn't hooked me like that for a long time and the stories coming out of the fandom were interesting. The playing field was endless and the bromance epic.

So, Avengers. What the hell? Why did it whup me upside the head and how did it happen so fast? Those of you sticking with me for the Inception and Supernatural, never fear, I'm as slow to let a fandom go as I am to move onto a new one and still have plenty of WIPS in both, but geez. I don't know, I can't explain it.

I ship everyone with everyone. I'll give anything a bash and usually I settle on just the one pairing. There's Steve/Tony of course, but then there's Darcy/Clint, Clint/Coulson, Steve/Bucky, Steve/Clint (I have not seen one story with this yet but hope springs eternal or I'll have to write it anyway) etc, etc. I like reading about them all being BFFs, or doomed romances, or domestic schmoop or, or, or...

Anything.

I rolled my eyes in Chris Evans' general direction at first. But then I saw Sunshine and I was like, okay, he took a risk and moved away from the general pretty boy role. Then I saw The Losers and was... maybe there might be a little bit of a crush there. After Captain America I was firmly in the he is adorable camp.

I was dubious about Thor, ended up watching it on DVD because I got it as a Xmas present and my goodness, it was the most RIDIC, glorious thing ever. Where had Darcy been all my life? Chris Hemsworth, I remember you being in Home and Away you giant goof, how did you grow up like that?

I already had affection for Iron Man (but was sorely disappointed by the second movie - what the hell happened there??).

The thing is, people in RL keeping saying Who? when I mention Jeremy Renner.

For your viewing pleasure, this is Jeremy Renner:

HUM-UN-A

I just... wasn't prepared for him. He's taking over the Bourne franchise and that would have given me the heebies (because I have enduring affection for all three movies and Matt Damon) but now I'm okay, even excited about it because it's him.

Photobucket
HOW EVEN REAL JEREMY RENNER??

He's in stuff I'm excited to see. He has ARMS that I'm excited to see. I gave the new Mission Impossible movie a chance just because of him and boy, was I pleasantly surprised! (I loved the first one, then... DISASTER I guess because hoo, boy were those some bad sequels).

I'm sorry though, I still can't sit through SWAT. Even Jeremy Renner doesn't have that power.

Photobucket
I thought that object by his hand was a gun for AGES, until I realized it was actually a wrench. It's a little... random considering behind him is a car that's UPSIDE down but then I thought, maybe he's so badass he flipped a car just with a wrench.

Anyway, the point of this is to say that I'm smitten, so apologies if that gets old because you're like, what the hell, I don't see it, not my cuppa. BUT I am glacial in my fandom movements so don't think I'm abandoning you if you didn't sign up for Avengers. I'm just playing with my new toy, will return you to your regularly scheduled programming soon, I promise.

Jeremy Renner hooked me when I saw him in The Unusuals. He's not even vaguely my type, but damn, he's just so HOT!

See, what happened to you with Avengers is what happened to me with Merlin! I've given up on apologizing for it, tho. It makes me too happy. :D (And if people fall away from my journal because of it...sad, but inevitable, I guess.) Enjoy the new fannish love! There is quite a lot of pretty in that fandom.

Hey, answer this for me -- what makes Hawkeye so appealing to me in the comics is the fact that he's deaf. Is movie!Hawkeye deaf, too?

Sarcasm on the internet is tricky so let me just say: YOU GO, GIRL. DO YOUR THING!! ♥

Jeremy Renner is a compelling actor. I loved his performance in the Hurt Locker. :) I'm going to see if Netflix has SWAT.

From: [identity profile] perletwo.livejournal.com

The reason you can't sit through SWAT is that Renner disappears for the entire middle of the movie, leaving us with that knotty wood panel Colin Farrell to carry us through.

FF through the Assembling the New Team sequence, the Getting to Know You sequences, the Trial By Fire sequences and skip ahead directly to the Guy Offers Umpty-Million $$$ To Break Him Outta Jail portion. It's not long after that JR comes back into play, and when he does, HOOBOY.

I haven't seen that one... but he was apparently also the young vampire in Angel that came back to torture Angel because he was abandoned so I am revisiting that one!

I hope most peeps understand that I basically never let anything go once I'm hooked fannishly. I'm still modding for [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec... heh!

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Oooooh... really?? He's not because he was in Thor and he was on comms with Coulson.

Man, that gives me squillions of fic ideas and would make the character MORE appealing but I'm pretty sure they've glossed over that.

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

ME TOO... IT CANNOT BE CONTAINED IN A SINGLE POST... IT WAS SPILLING OUT EVERYWHERE AND I CANNOT EVEN!!

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Hahahaa... I will always be writing Supernatural for you my dear and even if our paths diverged completed and I would still cling to you like a fluffy squid!!

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

I KNOW RIGHT??

IT WILL BE CRIMINAL IF THERE IS NOT ONE... OR MAYBE A BUDDY MOVIE WITH HIM AND NATASHA! HAR HAR!!!

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Man, I still have not seen Hurt Locker and I had been wanting to see it ever since it came out at the movies. I need to rectify that!

Oh, I *love* The Unusuals! It's a quirky ensemble, with fantastic characters, set in a police precinct in New York. I highly recommend it, and if you can't get hold of it, let me know and I'll enable.

From: [identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com

Ooooh...

I think it's on cable here but I think I only know that because I accidentally saw 12 seconds of it and was like, boy that guy looks exactly like JR... hahahaa!

I will have to see if it's on the On Demand list. :D Otherwise I will def. be in the market for enabling!

From: [identity profile] earthquakedream.livejournal.com

Ohh, you should definitely see The Unusuals. It's a lot... different than any normal crime drama and he's brilliant in it. I fell hard for him during that show. My only warning is that it's only ten episodes and ends kind of... abruptly on a few plot lines. But it's still really, really good.

Regular Marvel'Verse Hawkeye becomes deaf in the middle of his career with the Avengers, somewhere around the late 1980s.

Captured & with his bow taken, he & (future wife) Mockingbird are being forced by sonic mind control to fight to the death. He's hidden a single trick arrowhead from his captors, & at zero hour he puts it in his mouth and activates it with his teeth. It's a sonic arrowhead & knocks out the mind control gizmo - and his hearing.

The Avengers movie seems to be following the Marvel Ultimates'Verse somewhat, & I have no idea if any of this happened over there. But if this is his first outing as an Avenger, if deafness comes it looks to be down the road a ways...?

It was an awesome movie and directed by the same woman that made Point Break.

I don't want to get hooked on a doomed show... heh! We all still smart from Firefly!

It's up on youtube in full if you want to try it out, though check the episode order here, as the youtube ones are numbered oddly, and you really need to start with the pilot episode.
