Ugh

Home internet has decided to sporadically go kaput. It'll be fine for a few hours and then die and then come back and then die again. The box had the blinking orange light of doom this morning so I think it might have died properly. Flatmate thinks it might be temperature related but maybe the box itself is dying.

Don't know.

-> Bad - I can't access my yahoo mail from work so I could be missing out on fic snippets from [livejournal.com profile] foxxcub RIGHT NOW.
-> Good - I can access livejournal from work so I don't have to worry about being completely cut off.
-> Bad - I'm not willing to access anything even vaguely NSFW from work so that means I'll have to send any links that look interesting to my home address and hope the internet resurfaces soon. (If you write a fic I would normally be all over expect delayed pom poms!)
-> Good - US flatmate is home all day and usually spends a good chunk of that on the internet so he will be MOTIVATED to get it fixed ASAP.

But basically, in short, I'm a mad panda.

If you change the modem and it still doesn't work it could be that the node point needs to be rebooted*. You would need to call your provider and tell them this specifically because this is something that isnt usually checked and the normal 'oh, let me check if the system can connect to your phone' comes up clear ervery time by this point.

*I don't know the american system of hooking up internet but could it be that the node point [usually found on the street; the one where all the local internet comes from] needs to be rebooted? Because this sounds like what happened to me around Christmas and I did everything short of sitting down and praying over it.

Heh... I'm in Australia so I'm not sure if that's the same?

We think it's humidity related. We're in summer and it's like 1 billion percent humidity at the moment. We've been running the air con since yesterday and that seems to be helping.

The internet came back and then yahoo was out. AAAARGH!! I could see the next snippet in my inbox AND COULDN'T GET IT TO OPEN, IT WAS LIKE TORTURE!!!!

I checked downrightnow and it seems to all be working again so hopefully when I get home I will be able to READ ALL THE SNIPPETS!!

We think it was temperature/humidity related because we ran the aircon non-stop for a day and it's working now... bah!

DO THE INTERNETS NOT UNDERSTAND THAT I AM DEPENDANT AND GO INTO WITHDRAWALS???
