"Is it because of Jess?" Dean asks,..."Why Sam wants to... " Dean casts about for the right word but what Sam is doing is so completely illogical that it freezes everything inside him for a moment. Finally he huffs out, "Save me."
Damn, near broke my heart reading this, it's so like cannon Dean, thinking that he has no real value, no sense of self worth. Then you really ramped up the angst by mirroring cannon Dean's abandonment issues *that boy needs a hug-stat* and juxtaposing it with the selfless tenderness with which he cared for young Sam.
I'm really hoping that you do write the Sam POV, it would be a nice conclusion to the series.
