I never read death fics because they depress me beyond all belief. I literally cried for three days straight the first time I read a McShep death fic, and it wasn't even all that well done.
This... if all death fics were done this well I think I could deal. A poetic and bitter-sweat ending. Sort of leaves you with a slow burn of hurt, the stabbing pain of curiosity over what exactly John could have done, and a smooth wave of hope for both of them, even if it after death. Very very well done.
