This is brilliant. The dreamlike quality of this fic -- the juxtaposition of the desperate, insane spinning jumper and the halcyon Let's-Play-Pretend game, and the verse to tie it all together. I'm not sure if you meant it that way, but thinking about it, the juxtaposition left me rather unsettled because the story could be read as the children being an AU of the reality where almost everyone is about to die. Brr.
