dosomethinscary ficathon.
Go check it out, think about whether you have something that's been stewing in the back-brain for a while that you've been putting off because it's daunting/scary as hell to write. You can even post and sign up anonymously.
There's a nice loooong writing period too as the stories aren't due until December.
My dilemma with this ficathon as there is a couple of things that I could do that I've been putting off. I don't want to sign up until I've committed in my brain what I'm going to write.

SPN/Gilmore Girls - the one with Sam and Jess Mariano...
I got quite an unexpectantly good response to the Sam/Jess Mariano story You Don't Have To Be Crazy To Work Here (But It Helps) and ever since then I've been thinking about Jess taking Sam back to Stars Hollow and people are a little... surprised to say the least. Especially Dean who has followed them because he's being protectiveolderbrother!Dean.
SPN - the one where the demon still manages to separate John and Mary, but not the way you think...
This is 'And Everywhere That Mary Went' where the demon only almost kills Mary but John's thirst for revenge and the need to kill the demon drives a wedge between them. The main reason I haven't started this one is because usually when I start a story, I know how it's going to end. There's been a few notable exceptions to that rule, A World Of His Own Making being one of them and I really have no idea how this one will end. I'm just sure once I start it, it will have a life of its own. I don't even know at what point John and Mary will separate, who the boys will end up with, even if they end up together. This one hurts to even think about let alone commit to the page.
SGA - this is really only half-baked, a half-thought...
A John/Rodney story where they discover the Ancients had perfected cloning technology but with a little twist, the clones were created to be subservient. Rodney has a little bit of a Weird Science moment and creates himself another John and doesn't quite know what to do. Especially with a John that is so pliant and... willing.
And of course, when the other John finds out there's all kinds of... badness.
SPN - the one with two Deans
So I might write this one anyway because I only started thinking about it in the shower this morning. (I seem to get all my story ideas when I'm washing my hair. Maybe it's got something to do with massaging my scalp or something...) Basically, inspired by Buffy and the episode Dopplegangland (I think!!), as the clock ticks down to Dean's deal being due, Sam finds a spell that would allow them to steal something from a different time, basically, snatch the Colt before Bela can. Dean has a little bit of a Back To The Future meltdown about it but Sam tries it anyway, and accidentally brings another Dean through instead of the Colt. A Dean that went to Stanford with Sam, a Dean that lost Sam right before Sam's big interview to a stupid accident. The first Dean starts worrying that maybe Sam will like this new Dean better because he actually stood up to their father and chose Sam, and the second Dean starts thinking that maybe he can just take this Sam back with him, despite what anyone thinks and that will make his messed up world and life just all dandy again. In short, the doppleganger is a little broken...
RPS - the one I would have written if RPS was allowed...
Alas it's not.
But, this has been burbling in the ol' back brain for a while. Set after angry boy. Jensen and Jared have been doing Supernatural for a while and Jared actually sat Jensen down right from the get-go and was like, hey, I like you as more than a friend but I get that you don't and I'm just saying it's not a problem. And Jensen is all like, cool, no problem. Except he starts thinking that maybe it is a problem because maybe he likes Jared too but he feels like they've gotten past that point and then Milo comes back and Jensen realises that maybe it wasn't too late, but it could very well be very soon.

The funny thing was... I hated him in Gilmore Girls... but that was most probably because he was not Cute!Dean. Thank goodness for Heroes and Peter Petrelli.

I really want to finish that story - but it doesn't particularly scare so much as I'm procrastinating. I've gotten a fair way into it so rest assured it definitely isn't abandoned.
