I don't so much mind taking beds apart for moving - it's putting them back together that always ends up with bruises and blood. Good luck!
As for icons, I use Photoshop, and I often play around with an image a lot - there are just so many things one can do with one basic screencap! I don't advise getting it though - it's addictive!
