So, meme responses to the character one floating around... (First part)

1. Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic.
2. I will comment telling you the following:

Dean Winchester(SPN)

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

I started watching Supernatural for Jared Padalecki and so was instantly a Sam girl. Dean however... he just... grows on you. I think the first time he called his Dad when Sam and Dean were heading back to Lawrence and he just... tears and ... oh

b. One of his/her best traits.

His protectiveness.

c. One of his/her worst traits.

I don't think if it's necessarily a bad trait, more destructive. The way he only defines himself by other people. John's son or Sam's protector. Losing Sam was not an option to Dean because then he would've, in his own mind, ceased to have a purpose, a reason for being. He would cease to exist so sacrificing himself... Dean saw it as the only possibility left.

d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

What I've found interesting is that while I will always be a Sam girl at heart because I have had a longer viewing relationship with JP, most of my stories naturally evolve from a Dean POV. Perhaps it is his capacity to only define himself by others that makes me do this.

e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.

I think A World Of His Own Making has been my best Dean-centric story... but Soldier was my best attempt at capturing who Dean is.

f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

The next Wing!fic is going to be important for Dean.

Lindsay Novak

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

I know she was comic relief, but there was a sweetness to Novak that I just adored.

b. One of his/her best traits.

That while clumsy, she's obviously one of the best in her field and really shines when she's working.

c. One of his/her worst traits.

The bumbling/hiccuping was a little overdone to begin with but I think they've toned her down now and it works much better.

d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

Extremely easy.

e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.

Moved To Distraction was my first and still favourite Novak piece.

f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

While I'm writing another piece to the RFSS, I am really wanting to do a character piece on Lindsay. However, it always scares me to attempt to do this for a technical based character...

John Sheppard(SGA)

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.

He's like the quarterback with the secret stash of Dungeons and Dragons books...

b. One of his/her best traits.

His... doofishness... is that a word? He plays the part of the cool guy but he's really not.

c. One of his/her worst traits.

Again, probably not completely bad per se but his single-minded loyalty. He's extremely lucky to be alive and not for lack of trying.

d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.

It's a little difficult to get into John's head because he projects as all surface... but digging down is so much fun...

e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character.

Writing John as a child in Monday's Child.

John Sheppard always got to give out the roles. He was the leader by pure chance of lucky birth, a natural charisma bestowed upon him that made the other children naturally listen and follow his lead. He did actually try to hand over the leadership every now and again, but the game would fall down and all would be in disarray. He would sigh with a heaviness on his shoulders that was older than he was and then go back to being the organiser, arranging everyone the way he liked them.

"Because I said so," he snapped, a response he had learned from his father and abused with great alacrity. The others hated it, but would always snap to when he used it. It was tall speak and none of the others had quite mastered it the way he had.

Not any specific stories in the works right now but there will be...
