I'M IN UR JUMPER, STEALIN' UR WARMTH

I feel a bit whimpy lamenting the cold here considering I'm in Sydney and the coldest it's been is about 6 degrees Celcius (I can't be buggered finding out the conversion... heh). Lord knows I won't survive if I had to ever go somewhere like Canada in the dead of winter...

I'm scrolling through the flist but it's like dodging mines at the moment. Yes, I have my copy of Harry Potter but I'm reading it... like a normal book? I'm kinda depressed that I feel like maybe I should be pegging my eyes open with toothpicks to get it finished because while people have been good about spoiler cuts up till this point... I certainly feel like there are cracks in the proverbial dam. Please for the love of god don't put spoilers in your usericons... give those of us who are not reading it in one massive lump have a chance to enjoy it...

I want to savour it because it's the last one... am I crazy?

So, lots of fabulous sign ups for [livejournal.com profile] reel_sg1 I'm still torn myself. I've narrowed it down to either The Bourne Identity or Raising Helen. There was an overwhelming push for whatever I wrote to be Cam/Daniel so it will be written as that but... argh... thoughts?

The Bourne Identity - Cameron as an amnesiac super sekrit spy who picks up drifter Daniel Jackson outside the American consulate?

Raising Helen - Cameron Mitchell has to look after his sister's kids after a tradgedy and finds love with gentle languages teacher Daniel?

Decisions... decisions!

You are definitely not crazy. Some people don't understand that a few of us don't want to be spoiled meaning "I want to know NOTHING at all. I don't even want to know if it sucks or is good, or if you liked it." And the supposedly vague wording used sometimes in an attempt not to spoil make me cringe. I am actually surprised I managed to finish the book before I was spoiled even a little. (Probably has something to do with the fact that I literally stopped looking at the internet sometime during last week.)

I totally respect you taking the time to savour. I wish I had that much self-control. No matter how slow I wanted to take it, I didn't put the book down once I'd started it.

So good on you. Enjoy it.

I think I read this comment over twenty times trying to make sure I didn't let anything slip. I'm even using my default icon. Lol.

:) It'll be a week and a half before I even get my hands on a copy of the book (borrowing a friend's copy when it's available). I'm really hoping I can stay unspoiled that long (so far so good but I'm SCARED of the icons)

(6 C is a warm winter day here)

You! Writing Cam/Daniel! Yay! They both look like such good ideas too....

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Hehehee... not helping! I need to decide...

Actually, I think I've settled on Bourne Identity... :D

yeah, I have an amazing pile that I want to read before I get to DH...with any luck I'll stay unspoiled. Won't even see the movie until next weekend, when my niece is available.

Ooh, do the Bourne Identity. It would almost be more fun if you put Daniel in the Jason Bourne role.... ;-)

Hmmmm... I'll have to think about it.

I'm with you on Sydney being cold (it's the moisture and the fact that our buildings aren't designed for cold weather) and HP. I'll be reading it over the next week to two weeks.

I knoooooow! Like, I appreciate that we don't get snow and stuff but neither are we equipped to cope with extremes...

:(

I needed to dig out my Melbourne coat...

I second the motion for Bourne Identity.

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's the way I'm going to go... :)

[identity profile] twistingflame.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Yeah. Good luck with the avoiding spoilers bit. And I totally understand the urge to savor, though I didn't indulge myself in this particular case.

Also I definitely vote for Bourne Identity too. Can the SGC be the evil super sekrit agency? Knock-down drag-out fight between Cam and Teal'c?

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Wow... *thinky*

[identity profile] calijirl5150.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Bourne Idenity all the way baby !! I'm not a "chick-flick" kinda gal LOL

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hahhaa... I'm getting the feeling that's the consensus... :)

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2007-07-23 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
I read normal books in a day too - that's just how I read :) I can certainly understand savouring it as the last book in the series though.

And my vote is for Bourne Identity, just cause I love those movies. Even though Daniel is the amnesiac of those two :)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Hehehee... that's another vote for Daniel being Jason Bourne...

I just think he would make a hot german chick... *grins*

[identity profile] lyore.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Daniel makes a hot *anything* :D

But can't you just imagine him all tortured and angsty and amnesiac-y?

You're not crazy! Shoot, I've got the book and haven't even started it yet. I was going to bring it on a long plane trip, but it looks too darned big for my carryon. But I don't want to start it and then have to read something else on the plane! I'm very grateful to all the people who are NOT giving spoilers!

We watched SG:1 and SGA for the first time when they actually aired on SciFi this past half-season, which meant almost everyone in the world had seen them before us. Most people were surprisingly decent about it (a few people, of course, were NOT--a big raspberry to everyone who started spoiling "The Shroud" before it aired in ANY country).

Now I have to work to remember that I am not in fact the last person to see any given show and that what I've seen could still be spoilers for other people. (I recently blew it in a description of my own short fic and sent the description to nearly 30 people and posted it on my own website before I saw Redbyrd had modified it. I did a "D'oh!" and changed it on my site.)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, I still haven't seen the end of S10 stargate. I *was* downloading but I just got jack of it so I'm awaiting the dvds with baited breath.

Hey, at least SG-1 hasn't officially *ended* for me yet... :)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_minxy_/ 2007-07-23 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The Raising Helen one could be really interesting if you set Cam abroad and have to transition him into family housing, and Daniel is teaching at the American School on base. But I'd have trouble with the idea that Cam wouldn't be a bit of a natural with kids, so you'd have to play the overwhelmed and scared and mourning card.

The Bourne Identity could fit very, very nicely. Especially if you let them be a little younger and Daniel was just post his departure from academia.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_minxy_/ 2007-07-23 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
also totally meant to add:

DUDE COME VISIT ME. It is never cold here, except when the sun goes down and you're still hanging out on the beach and too far from the bonfire. Srsly.

Also, I don't even have the book yet, so you aren't alone. (Woe for being too busy to even get to a bookstore! I ordered it to be shipped from my favorite independant bookseller in my old city, but they required a signature and I wasn't home at all on Saturday. Woe!)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaaa... :) Well, I'm in Sydney so we *usually* don't get much cold weather... it wasn't this cold last year.

We should totally plan a swap or something... I come to you for like two weeks and then you travel back and stay with me...!!

You're not crazy! I haven't even bought the book yet! >_< Also, LJ is a minefield. I'm staying away from it partially because of that reason, partially cos I have no free time. LOL

Also 6 °c? Zomg, can I move there? It's been like 38°C last week. Thankfully, it rained on Saturday so we're back around 30°-ish now. I hate summers and yeah, I'm a *freak*.

Re: reel_sg-1. Um, though choice. On one hand Cam would be the perfect super sekrit spy ever, on the other, Raisin Helen is less angsty and dark. So, um, maybe...yes, ok, I vote for the Bourne Identity even though I kinda didn't like it

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-07-24 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Heh... you probably wouldn't like being here in the summer... two years ago we were averaging 40 degrees C...

Ha... well, I've actually pretty much decided on Bourne so hopefully with my recasting you'll like it... *laughs*
