I currently hate you for making me read fic for a fandom I know nothing about! *headdesk*
I absolutely adored the first scene where we saw hero!protect-my-people!John ( basically the protrayal og John as a very competent/smart soldier) and this line from Elizabeth:
She has some understanding of what a man will do to protect what is his. She bore witness to John taking out an entire Genii strike team in order to do so.
I don't know Sam and Dean well enough, so while I can understand where they're coming from, I just want to tell them, "get with the program!!! These people are fighting space vampires for crying out loud - they'll understand all your crazy shit!" ie, I'm not being overly sympathetic to them. I wanted Ronon to take Dean (and Sam) down without even breaking sweat, just to put them (Dean) in their place. As I said I don't know them, so I'm not cutting them the same slack I would characters I know. *g*
I'm curious to see how it's all going to play out with John tho. On one hand, I totally get his protective mode. But on the other, I can't help but feel that he should be cutting them a little more slack. John should know about extenuating circumstances and thing not being what they appear to be - this is the guy that ended up in the Antarctic and then killed his CO - so I can't help but feel that there's something that we, the readers, aren't seeing to make him so against Dean. It could well be that I'm assuming that Dean is basically a good guy (which I'm assuming because hey, stars of their show. *g) when really, he's not.
This line:
Sheppard is looking back at them and Dean can tell from his face that he’s annoyed.
also had me curious. When I read it, I can't help but feel that John is jealous of Dean (and his new found relationship with Ronon), which I can kinda understand in myself, but I totally wouldn't have expected of John. So, I definitely want to see what's going on.
And feel free to tell me that I've totally mis-read all of the above. *g*
I adored Ronan taking the mickey out of Lorne. Just perfect. *g* And that baleful look. *g*
I also want to beat people up (Woolsey and the IOC I suspect) for just dumping the guys on the Atlantis crew. See, you've got me being all indignant on behalf of fictional characters. *headdesk*
Also? The summary is made of awesome. *g*
And back in the first scene? I adore seeing John assess the situation - the way he thinks about it and compares Dean to Ronon and then Elizabeth gets what he means.
