Unfortunately (but often amusingly) the tagging is basically like the "free form" tags over at AO3 - its really just another place to put comments or for people to find things for themselves when they go back through their own posts.

There is no standardized tagging system. Just use the most generic search terms you can, like "Renner" - that will bring up anything with "renner" in it: "jeremy renner", "crazy renner", "renner gif", etc. Using the tags for a specific set of blog posts will usually work: "rennsday", scifigrl47's "Financial Friday", etc. but everything depends on what the blogger decided to use as tags - some are very conscientious and tag EVERYTHING, some just tag the URLs of people whose asks they are reposting (like twitter @s) To find the original blogger you have to look at the source, which sometimes can only be found on your "reblog" page. Otherwise, post authors are not tagged - meaning you can only search for people in the "Find Blogs" field.

Tag how you feel comfortable - your followers will know to check for personal tagging idiosyncracies and bear them in mind. Also - cool tags are very much a desirable thing. They go hand in hand with a lot of Tumblr, tag and URL ~humor~. {8D
