Trying to catch up is like swallowing honey...

- Why does LJ decide to be an asshat when I decide to make a concerted effort to catch up on my replies to comments. I've kinda let it slide since 'his own making' response knocked my socks off but I'm getting an error message between each reply, have to hit back and then resubmit and... *hands* I give up. I'm going to give it a few days and try again.

- How do people manage f-lists of 2-300 people?? Or more you crazy cats!! I miss reading my f-list for a day and I'm paging back 160+ and still hitting posts I haven't read. I've deleted some removed journals and some that I was finding myself scrolling through and not reading because our paths have diverged but yikes, you can really get out of control fast.

- I'm feeling a little guilty that my 'friend of' has bypassed my mutual friend list... I figure though a lot of them are reading or lurker journals which I don't mind at all but if you've friended and we interact and I haven't friended you, always feel free to prod me. :) I'm just obviously crapola at keeping up.

- I always seem to miss fandom exploding. *looks around at craters and smoking debris* But I learned something new, I'd had no idea what a BNF was until today. I'll just go back to sticking my head in the sand and chanting lalalala shall I? Heh.

- I like [livejournal.com profile] keepaofthecheez's response to the fandom explosion. Posting pretty pictures is good for the soul. Although, I somtimes would think "Sam's puppy face is kinda overused, it's not *that* cute" but then I saw one of the pictures on the aforementioned post and actually said "Awwww" out loud... Well, it was actually more like "AwwwwwwhatthecrapamIdoing??" Who am I kidding? I've been a sucker for Padalecki-face since Gilmore Girls.

- I need SG-1, SGA and BSG to come out on DVD like now because I got so far behind in my viewing that I'm going to have to settle for watching it when I buy it. (Because lord knows when we'd actually get the shows here or they would play them with any kind of consistancy or before crap o'clock in the freakin' AM!!

Yeah, I've got a relatively small flist, and I find it hard to keep up.

I'm behind on SGA, and a little on SG-1. Well, the dvds should come right out when Channel 7 decides to put it on.

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, pretty much. I mean, we got the S2 dvds released *before* they started showing it on tv... *slaps forehead*

[identity profile] yellowvalley.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
I am *heartbroken* because SGA Season Two is coming out on DVD in DAYZ and I just start a new job on Monday so won't have the money right away to go buy it. I have them downloaded, but it's just not the same!

That is SO where my first paycheck is going though.

As far as friending, I friended you because of your writing and you seemed cool, but know that I am all kinds of boring, so I don't take it personally and don't expect to be friended back. Just don't be scared of that strange girl that comments at 3am her time on one of your random posts because she is bored, I promise she doesn't bite. :)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hee... :) It *so* weird me out that we got S2 here in December and you guys are still waiting for it... that just seems whacky to me.

And hell, anyone that randomly comments at 3am *deserves* to be friended. *grins*

I'd had no idea what a BNF was until today.

Oh.My.God. I saw links to that post as well, and words fail me!

And my season 2 SGA boxset arrived yesterday! It even came with a nifty pen that projects the logo onto a wall from one end :D

I got home and my father was in complete fanboy glee heaven having marathoned the first two discs :D

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehee... I did that when I got them... basically gorged myself on the atlantis goodness. :)

[identity profile] meeshy.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 10:04 am (UTC)(link)
You must have very talkative friends, I have 160ish people on my friends list and I only skip back maybe 60 posts at the most... I was amazed the other day at having to skip 100 posts because I'd not been online in 2 days ;)

I deliberately missed fandom going boom. Fandom wank is probably one of my major reasons that I've not got involved in the Atlantis fandom, after SG-1 I've had enough meow-boom's to last a lifetime ;) (Though you may not be talking about 'Lantis as for once my friends list has been quiet on the Atlantis wank!)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh... no, it was SPN fandom and kinda rippled outward. I don't know, I just back away slowly from the whole thing. Or, you know, run for the hills. :)

[identity profile] meeshy.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
I hear the hills are very nice at this time of year ;)

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Fandom went boom? Again? Why does everything happen when I'm away?

You know, though, I am fascinated by BNFs. As well as that part of any fandom. BNFs generally have a negative connotation to them. While many of can get smug and conceited about their "favored" position, I do believe a lot of bashlash against them is due to jealousy. Though, honestly, some BNFs (not all) really don't help with some of the attitudes displayed. But...human nature. The anthropologist in me can't help but be fascinated by it.

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
*shrugs* I don't know, it's like anything, it's all opinion and conjecture anyway.

I always find it's just best to stay away.

I can remember reading about BNFdom for the first time (the whole Cassie Claire saga in HP fandom). My first response was WTF??? My next was being grateful that I was surrounded by LJ friends who didn't buy into TEH CRAZEEE. :)

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I read about the HP saga. I don't think anything can top that one.

[identity profile] moonshayde.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, it's definitely best to stay away. I've become less and less involved in fandoms for quite some time now. I'm just mostly joking ;) The only aspect that makes me curoius is the how and why and that's basically from a anthropological viewpoint. But you're right--better to stay out of the fray. Sucks the fun right out.

[identity profile] gigerisgod.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd had no idea what a BNF was until today.

I'm gonna have to cop to my ignorance on that one because I'm clueless.

[identity profile] brandifer.livejournal.com 2007-03-03 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
You were not alone, I had to Google it. It stands for Big Name Fan, and I believe it's meant as a derogatory term.

I have the stable of characters I adore as much as anybody else, but not nearly enough to go to virtual war with others over it. Get lives, people. ::sigh::

[identity profile] gigerisgod.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you for clearing that up! And I agree with you, some folks out there sure do like to get worked up over some strange things.

Isis awards

[identity profile] libra-traveller.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm planning on nominating your Lorne/Novak series in the Isis awards. The problem is that you don't have a link to just those stories, or they're not connected, or if you do I can't find it. Oh and if you don't want to be nominated, tell me that.

Re: Isis awards

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh thankyou honey, that is so sweet of you.

I have them linked in my memories in a section of their own here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=kellifer_fic&keyword=%22Relationship+From+Scratch%22+series&filter=all) if that helps.

Which reminds me, I need to put the more recent ones in there.

Okay, I sent in the nomination, good luck!

Lj decides to be an asshat anytime someone really needs/wants to get something done. Lj gets off on causing us mental anguish. It’s a well known fact. *nods head*

I haven't a clue how people keep up with flists that large. I always feel bad when I go to catch up on what's been happening only to find out that someone's been going through something major that I’ve totally missed. I tried to narrow down my flist in an attempt to keep track of what’s been happening.

Everyone is a sucker for Padalecki-face. It’s all wibbly-inducing and just plain crack for fangirls.

I want to say the second season of SGA comes out March sixth and the third season starts back up the next week, but I could have my dates mixed up a bit. (College had fried my brain)

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
We actually got s2 here in December... I need S3... nooooooow!!

[identity profile] strifechaos.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, we haven't even gotten season two but I feel like I should be getting season three by now. It seems like it's taking them an awfully long time to get on the ball with this.

[identity profile] crayonbreakygal.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 07:36 am (UTC)(link)
Mine's small, but quite active sometimes. It'll take me an hour on a slow day, more than a few on a fic posting/fandom wank day. Like today.

I had no idea what this wank was about! SPN started it. Had no idea. I had to have someone explain to me yet again was BNF was.

Stupid BSG is in two parts here, which makes it really expensive. I want to buy it, but I'd have to shell out over $60 (at least).

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-04 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah! That's crappy... I hate when they split the seasons up... there's no rhyme or reason for it, other than to make it more expensive.

Dude, I continually wonder how anyone manages a flist of more than 200. I have like, 150, and I find it impossible some days! People must filter like crazy I guess!!

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
I know!! I'm finding I'm using the non-community filter more and more often, just trusting that stories that come up that I'd like will be recced by my f-list.
