Big Bang Blurb

Hey, this is the first Big Bang where I might actually finish. I haven't even thought about the whole summary/blurb thing. I think it's supposed to be a paragraph?

Am I allowed to use a chunk of story?

I just... don't need something else to write from scratch right now... hahahaa...

ok from what I remember of the last time I did it, it's a detailed description of what the story's about. Now I didn't go into the ending and such, but I did make it like....two paragraphs I think? Four sentences each? Goodness I can't think about that now. I'm stuck on which chapter to do next! xD

Hahahaa...

I'm definitely with you on the too-busy-writing-it thing. I just suddenly thought, ye gads, I haven't even thought about a summary and this is what the artists are going to be choosing the stories by... I think? :)

yea kinda. SO it's like....be thorough in describing the situation, but don't give everything away hehe. They get the first draft anyways to work with.

Oh do they? Cool, I didn't know that. I didn't really go through the whole process last year so I pretty much have no idea... heh.

Oh noes, someone's going to have to put up with my terrible grammer. :D

I look at it as a sort of back of the book kind of summary. More detail than I generally put into the summaries on a post (those are usually one sentence, maybe two), but just a couple quick words about what the story's about, what kind of theme it has.

I think the summary can be whatever you want it to be, so a chunk of the story is probably allowed, but generally it's more of just a quick run down.

My summary last year was this:

"Hell and Earth are empty. Do you think Heaven still has room?" The demons are gone, but at what cost? Sam and Dean make their way through a post-apocalyptic America, adapting the Impala and themselves as they go. It's a world of ghosts, mad men, and Victorian science, as Dean discovers he's a better mechanic than he has any right to be, and Sam that he has more power than he'd ever thought possible. They eventually make their way back home to Lawrence, only to find out that things aren't nearly as hopeless as they might've thought. The world can be fixed, all they have to do is make an impossible choice. A steampunk look at Supernatural, guest starring all the usual suspects, with an odd cameo by Samuel Colt and a leather-bound journal.

I dunno if that helps. But writing something like that, while a pain in the butt, might help you work out better what your story's theme is and help with the writing/revising of the fic itself?

I don't think I've read that but it sounds awesome! Have you got a linky?

[identity profile] kellifer-fic.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Nooooo! I should have asked for the link as a reward for after I've finished mine because now I'll probably end up reading yours all weekend instead of finishing mine... hehehee!

Or something.

I'm also having a problem coming up with a summary for my Big Bang. I wanted to wait till I got finished with the fic, but it looks like I'll be working on right to the end. Speaking of which, I still need to find a beta. Yikes!

Heh... I'm pretty much exactly the same. My toes will be hanging over the edge of that cliff-edge of a deadline for the first draft.

I thankfully have a beta though... thank goodness. I think I've got someone to be a crash-test reader as well which I'm going to have to send something to very soon. :D
