In which poor Sammy may or may not get the girl...

I am currently writing a Sam/OFC wing!fic for poisontaster and I just realised that about halfway through the story, I'm basically doing to Sam what the SPN writers seem to feel compelled to do. That is, Sam + Girl = horrible man!pain for Sam and doom-ness for the girl.

Oops.

But, I really *like* what I'm writing but am conscious of maybe giving Sam an actual happy ending for once. This story will sit outside the normal arc so I have a little leeway.

Here's what I'm proposing. A choose your own adventure-style story where you can either watch the man!pain or revel in the schmoopy goodness.

How about man!pain with a somewhat hopeful ending? I'd love to see Sam (and Dean) meet Ms. Right in this 'verse, but when they are a few years older, not just yet.
