I remember being recced an amazing TSN podfic and then after that I was reading ALL THE THINGS!!

Charity fic items

The lastest round of Charity auction-ness has prompted something in my back brain to say hey, I think you owe some people some things.

I'm pretty sure I still owe some charity items somewhere and I always prided myself on getting those done but I've lost track of for who and what they wanted - I have a massive pile of WIPs - some of which I am SURE are started projects for auction fills.

If it's you, I'm sorry and please contact me so I can get them done finally - even if you've changed your mind about what you want :)

I am in the same apartment complex but in a different apartment and I have been crap and haven't done the forwarding thing yet because till this week my flatmates were still in the original apartment. Dear Podficcer,

This is my first time - so be gentle! This is basically a guide but go wherever the podfic tide takes you my friend - I will love it regardless.

Fandoms I would like to hear:

Teen Wolf: Stiles/Derek preferred but if it's super charming or funny or has lots of pack feels I can see the attraction of gen or other pairings.

MCU: Steve/Tony, Clint/Darcy, Darcy/Peter Parker being bros (I don't know why it appeals so much but it does!). Again, found families, domesticity, humor, anything like that is a super like. If the whole Avengers team adopts Peter Parker and spends the entire fic giving him noogies I would love it. Not sure if that story exists but if it does then wahoo!

Inception: Arthur/Eames all the way. Unrequited pining, requited pining, both of them being badass, both of them being complete nincompoops, it's all good.

Atlantis: John/Rodney - I have re-discovered my love of this ship and these stories recently through podfic and the Farm In Iowa series so it seems appropriate to put it on the list.

Tropes and things that I enjoy: Found/chosen families. Domesticity. Slow build or established relationships - love it all. Werewolves and/or shapeshifters or vampires or dragons. AUs and movie/television fusions are huge favourites.

Squicks and things for potential avoidance: Noncon and/or dubcon. PWPs. No dismemberment/maiming/rape, cannibalism, scat, psychological torture, heavy jealousy or animal harm. Character death isn't a flat out no if it's important to the story, but if it's a death to get someone out of the way of the OTP then I'm not really into that.

Need any clarification or have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask a mod to pass it on or you can comment anonymously here and I will answer. If it helps, check out what I've previously bookmarked on AO3 just for some ideas.

Okay - so I pretty much skim LJ and DW most days - but the last time I actually posted was April? Really? I think I don't realize because I use DW to write at work so it looks like I'm posting all the time. So, this meme going around which is useful for a catch up!

So what have you been up to? / Major life changes? Same old same old?

I've moved... into another apartment in the same building complex. So, that's not really major but what is is that I'm no longer living with the flatmates I was with for 8 years. Nothing bad - they are moving to the US so me getting another place before they go and a place coming up in the same complex means everything is easy peasy. My bestie is Aussie and her husband is American and they just got approval today for her to go so they are really going and SOON. They're basically selling their place in the next few weeks and then... *sniffs mightily* End of an era and a big change!

I will also be without my cats because we had adopted three over our years together but they are moving to a farm in the US and the cats all really love each other so even though they would have been happy with me keeping the first one me and bestie got when we first moved in, I couldn't do it. I had to go with what was best for them so even though it breaks my heart I'm letting them go.

What fandom are you in/do you spend most of your time in?

Still TW mostly and MCU. I've been listening to a lot of SGA podfic and some Inception lately because I'd listened to most of the longer TW fic that was available and I have about a 2 hour roundtrip commute to work so that's been fun and nostalgic.

Where do you hang out online

Here (LJ and DW), on tumblr and I'm posting to AO3 still. I also have a fannish twitter now I mostly use for podfic stuff kellifer_podfic but other stuff creeps in there every now and again.

What are you reading?

I've been mostly listening to podfic and watching Bob's Burgers in bed before I go to sleep. I have a pile of books I want to read and never have time - I'm mostly relying on my commute podfic to get new fic these days. Argh.

What are you watching?

Still hanging in there with TW because we watch it as a household (not for much longer *cries*). Started Orphan Black recently with a mate and enjoying it (we are trading off - he makes me watch OB and I'm making him watch In The Flesh). Just random stuff otherwise. There's this English game show called Pointless I'm obsessed with lately and I'm giving this season of ANTM a go and hoping it's less all over the place. They got rid of the social media voting thank god which was weird and offputting and they've reformatted based on the Australian version. We're only on the first few eps here so no spoilers! :D

What are you making?

Still writing, making podfic (slowly, ugh).

Looking forward to seeing the new Maze Runner on the weekend!

If anything, I would want to zap my brain into liking Bucky/Steve because that's where a lot of my favourite writers have migrated. Don't know why it doesn't appeal to me, it should. *sigh*

I have a whole bunch of prompts I got from tumblr to work through - including an MCU one where Tony is Darcy's dad and she's dating Steve... although I'm kinda tempted to write it as Darcy/Clint because the hilarity! (although the prompter may keel me!)

Looks like all but 1 of my fics is now off the Ebooks Tree site so that's positive. Not sure if it was the DMCA or the AO3 folks working their magic so might just lock the 1 affected fic to registered users until I can work out how to get that one removed too. >:/

I suppose it's hard because unscrupulous people have noticed us since they keep shining a light in our little fandom corner and this will probably become more of a problem. It's certainly made me think about downloading anything from a "free" site, because there's always someone that's being taken advantage of at the end of the line - nothing is truly free. I've always felt safe and isolated in fandom but that's slowly being chipped away as more stuff like this happens.

- Finally crossed another social network barrier and set up a twitter - just for podficcing stuff though so if you're interested - kellifer_podfic. Just getting my feet wet at this stage!

- Speaking of - just in final edits of podfic of Stilinski's Home for Wayward Wolves. Have a couple of other projects in the pipeline but also just got permission to record Cross My Soul so resisting the urge to jump directly from one 30k fic to another... eep!

- Am hoping to snag something awesome for the TW Reverse Bang but alas there are more writers than artists and I'm in an inconvenient timezone so might not... will see how it goes. My WIP folder is probably a little pudgy at this stage to be committing to other stuff but I can't help myself.

- Really looking forward to new Avengers and un-zombified Cliiiiiint - am assuming it will rejuvenate my Clint/Darcy feels - doesn't take much!

This is a listen and learn website for (at last count) 322 languages. I just used this site for a podfic where there was some Polish and it was so awesome - I found every single phrase from the fic.

I think I might join and add a bunch of pronunciations in Australian. :D I never realized how much stuff I pronounced differently to say, someone in the US, until I lived with an American.

Things I'm hoping to get done in the next day or so.

-> Podfic posting - nearly done. A Xmas-themed Sterek fic that I just adored and was able to get done in a few days! Just need to clean up the spaces and add a lot of jingle bells.

-> oxoniensis's charity fic - FINALLY. It's done, just trying to get through the edits so it's ready for posting!

-> insmallpackages fic. Due before the 6th but I'd like to try and knock it out before then.

-> Possible brate7's other charity fic - but I don't think I'll make it. I'm definitely aiming to get that one done asap.

-> Next part of 'party of five'.

- I accidentally posted Chapter 12 in place of Chapter 11 on my TW fic the one that's a little bit party of five. Argh! Luckily a few people were kind and brave enough to send me messages letting me know that the chapter posted didn't really make sense and there was a good reason for that! I've been posting staggered between tumblr and AO3 and am a few chapters ahead writing-wise so totally tripped myself up there. I had to log onto tumblr at work (which always makes me nervous because tumblr is basically the realm of SURPRISE PEEN) to post that it had been corrected because people are going to get notifications saying chapter 12 is now posted and will be all, I'VE READ THIS WTH. I don't usually post WIPs and it shows.

- On a related topic - does anyone know where the safe mode setting is on tumblr now? It used to be on the Dashboard setting page and now it's not! I tried googling to find it but all the instructions are outdated. All I could find was the little padlock thingie when you do a tag search but surely there's still somewhere you can just turn it on and off without having to perform a search first!

- There will be new Clint/Darcy fic very soon - I'm posting a bunch of ficlets for a Halloween meme but one of the requests inspired me to write something a little longer - mostly because the request came from my darling laria_gwyn who has gone above and beyond for me beta-wise so many times that I owe her ALL THE FIC!

- Seeing Bill Bailey this weekend and soooo excited!

-> It's been a while since an update but it doesn't seem like it because I use my DW to write when I'm at work so I'm actually on it everyday pretty much - heh.

-> I'm heading to OzComicCon in a couple of weeks, mostly to support a friend who is re-launching some of his books but also to meet some artists and hopefully catch a sneaky glimpse of Jason Momoa. I bet he's impressive looking in real life. I could buy an autograph/photo op ticket but I'm weird about meeting celebs in real life. They can stay firmly on my screen and away from me. Being in Australia I don't have to worry much about randomly running into many. I met James Marsters the once and apparently both Hugh Jackman and David Wenham have been at the same beach as me at the same time but I tend to run the other way. ALTHOUGH - I am tempted to try and meet Mark Sheppard because c'mon, how often do you get the opportunity to meet Crowley?

-> Got all keen to get to podficcing again and even finished and posted my Darcy/Clint podfic and then developed a wracking cough/flu combo that has destroyed my voice and stamina and has hung on for 3 weeks. I've got a bunch of stuff I want to do, all the permissions I need (either asked or blanket - love blanket permissions!) and CAN'T RECORD ANYTHING FFS.

-> Got a couple of things I'm really looking forward to in the next little while - Comicon and seeing Bill Bailey and heading to Quay restaurant (for those that have watched the Aussie Masterchef - Quay is the home of the famous Snow Egg dessert which is still on the menu and we're planning to eat its face off - NOM!)

Does anyone know a good online document site (not google docs because that just doesn't work for me well, or really at all) that's simple but reliable? I know I'm probably asking too much from the interwebs for such a beast to exist. :)

Basically - I write at work a lot of the time during my lunch breaks but I'm going to have a quiet week next week so it might be a good opportunity to get the zillion WIPS I have unWIP-ed but google docs at work just doesn't load and I can't access DW (where I normally write) outside of 'social' hours because work blocks it during 'working' hours. (I can access LJ any old time so it's disappointing that the entry part now is bollocks and basically unuseable too).

I would pretty much like to stop using google docs for my file sharing anyway because even at home on my pretty Windows 8 with fast internet - it still freezes and crashes and is basically crap. Am I on an old version and didn't realize it and everyone else is using a shiny new program I don't know about?

Care Packages

I've been swapping some care packages with some people lately (ugh, SUPER fun, I'm addicted) and a few different people asked me what I put in them so here is the guideline I kind of follow for posterity when putting one together.

+ Sweets/candy - Inexpensive but awesome way to fill up spare space in the package. I'm totally not above using a package of freddos instead of bubble wrap.

+ Handmade/DIY bits - jewelery, accessories, cards, figurines, clothing - whatever you make! (I am completely BAD at anything crafty unfortunately)

+ Fun accessories - Items such as gloves, shoe laces, jewelery (no diamonds - fun junky stuff only. I love candy necklaces for example...), hair bits, head bands, scarves... etc.

+ Paper stuff - books, printed stories, recipes, song lyrics, pictures, postcards, photos, magazine clippings, cards, drawings, paintings, sketches.

+ Fannish stuff - I've sent toy impalas (the car, not the deer), wolf hats, avengers mugs, mini Hawkeye and Nick Fury figurines that I randomly found in a dollar store. (They had nothing but Hawkeye and Nick Fury figures - SO WEIRD).

+ DVDs, CDs and Games - I would probably stay away from (even mix CDs) and there's always the region issue, plus they're pricey and different countries have different legal issues - don't want to get into trouble!

+ Country specific souvenirs - always awesome!

+ I'm going to get back into podding because I really liked it and have been devouring podfic myself at the moment because my commute is B-O-R-I-N-G. I'm going to finally edit and post the fics I have done already and then... I'm not sure. Maybe hit me up if you're open to your stuff being podded, know people who are or have a story in mind you always wished was podded and know the author is good with it. There's a story of tabaqui's I've been meaning to do so I'll get on with that too. Anyone also got a good suggestion of what host site to use? I usually use sendspace but I'm assuming there's better.

+ I am doing 2 TW big bangs - one Track 1 where I'll get an author picking me (hopefully!) and a track 2 sign up. I might need some extra beta/cheerleading because I write linear so sometimes stuff doesn't make sense and I'm an Aussie s y'know, a thong is not a thong. :) My track 1 fic is actually already at 14k because it's doing double-duty as my last charity fic with permission from oxoniensis. <3!

+ I just finished Series 3 of Shameless and NEED SEASON 4 OMG. Anyone able to help out? I hate to ask but again, Aussie and paranoid about using sources I don't trust/aren't regionally available argh. (Comments are screened - I'll unscreen anything to do with points 1 & 2 :D).

Every now and again I think, ugh, haven't posted anything in a while. I've still been reading but the new formatting for LJ doesn't show right on my work computer for some reason so I have been kind of skipping it. I'm still here though!

- Thinking about getting back into podding more recently - I should finish the three stories I actually have already recorded which are just waiting for me to edit, yeesh. I've been devouring a lot of podfic because my work commute is BORING so as always, got any recs, point me to them.

- I'm signing up for teenwolf_bb again this round. I'm thinking of horribly punishing myself and signing up twice but since I have oxoniensis's charity fic currently sitting only 1k under the word minimum and she might like some accompanying art in trade for waiting a little longer, I figure what the hell.

- It's a short week next week, THANK GOODNESS. I feel a little burnt out lately. I have the long weekend Monday and then I'm taking the next Friday off for my birthday because everyone deserve a 3 day weekend on their birthday and that means I only have to do a 3 day work week too. It'll feel like a mini break.

- I want to go on holiday again but I don't want to travel by myself and my friend who I went to Hawaii with unfortunately has a mortgage, whereas I am (currently, soon to end, sniff) footloose and fancy free. Maybe I should just put on my big girl pants and actually look at solo travel options. Another girl friend of mine does it all the time and she always has a blast because she ends up meeting heaps of new people. I AM SUCH A WUSS THOUGH.

Ugh, I've have fallen into the rabbit hole of Shameless. I'm one ep away from finishing season 2 and have season 3 ready to go. I'm not sure my feels can quite take how quickly I'm getting through it but ugh, this SHOW.

So, anyone got any recs? Fic recs, tumblrs I should be following to get my Lip or Ian fixes (Lip/happy and Ian/Mickey are basically my goto pairings... hee!), access to Season 4 because I'm gonna need it I think. Ways I can hug Fiona because she really needs it.

Ugh, punching me in the feels.

I'm probably too late to the party in reblogging this but in case anyone is tumbling around this site like a tumbleweed and hasn't seen the above yet, go check it out. I just put my info up but I'm the 1192nd comment (ha!) so if you want to take it as an opportunity to poke me if you've friended me a while ago and I haven't done anything about it, feel free! I can get through my flist in under an hour every couple of days and that just doesn't feel right.
