Year in Review
I am up *way* to early on New Year's day. Unfortunately, the temperature jumped about a million degrees in my room and it was too hot to sleep. To put the air conditioner on I would have to go into my *asleep* flatmates room to close her sliding doors or close her bedroom door, both of which I don't want to do to wake her. I'm just trying to will her to wake up with my mental powers because we were planning on going to have breakfast and a swim this morning.
I went out to dinner with friends and then on to a *very* fun party with lots of people I knew which is always good for me last night. I hope everyone had a very pleasant New Year's.
My favorite story this year (of my own):
Probably have to be Do Winchesters Dream Of Electric Impalas - the AU robot!Dean story. This was *supposed* to be for Big Bang and while there was scope to make it longer I just didn't want to force it, this one was determined to come in its own time so I had to drop out of Big Bang and get this done later. I hemmed and hawed a lot about this one and at a few points nearly gave it away completely.
A close second and third would probably be Five Times Sammy Wasn't and A Heartbeat At My Feet.
My best story this year:
I think possibly Snuffleupagus. I just really think it came out exactly the way it had formed in my brain and that's a really rare thing.
Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
I have to admit, as a (mostly) gen writer I am pretty damn spoiled for appreciation. I really can't pick anything.
Most fun story:
I'm pretty cracky but I'd say either lil-i-pyooh-shun or That Thing We Never Talk About (And I Mean Ever)
Most sexy story:
Possible Claw And Grin which is a SPN/SGA story. Maybe not for the content particularly but the idea of Ronon/Sam W, especially Sam all wolfy and Ronon ready to take care of him but also getting ever closer.
Story with single sexiest moment:
I don't think I've written much sexiness this year but for some reason this really appeals to me, from Better Than Real which is a DH4/SPN story about Sam and Matt Farrell. Maybe it's because most of my friends are geeks and I just see this so clearly in my brain.
Story with single sweetest moment:
I'd say You Don't Have To Be Crazy To Work Here (But It Helps) which is the Sam Winchester/Jess Mariano story.
Most unintentionally *telling* story:
I can't really pick something for this.
"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you" story:
Hahahaa... apparently The Sum Of His Parts creeped the hell out of people.
Most disappointing story:
I would have to say while it's my favourite story I wrote, Do Winchesters Dream Of Electric Impalas was also my most disappointing because I really wanted to get it done for Big Bang and I failed.
Hardest story to write:
I'm just going to put a stock answer here - any Remix fic I *ever* write. I'm keen as mustard to join in on Remix ficathons and then it's torture. But I don't think I'll ever stop doing them.
Easiest story to write:
Again, it's a toss up between And All But He Departed the SPN/DISCWORLD crossover because it just flowed out of me and Hospital Corners which was a SPN coda to ep 3x11 and just demanded to be written. I had little to do with it.
This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most:
Again, didn't really have a theme, other than maybe shedding excess. I don't think I really have a story that summed that up.

Matt smothered Sam’s look of alarm with a kiss, right after carefully setting his laptop on his side table.

I'd say You Don't Have To Be Crazy To Work Here (But It Helps) which is the Sam Winchester/Jess Mariano story.
Sam snorted and looked up, something hopeful on his face. “I got called a lot of names when I was growing up. I was always the new kid, the freak. The one they checked first for switchblades in the books because… well, I don’t know. I always thought if I kept my head down and studied and didn’t do anything then they would see past my crappy clothes and my spotty school record but…” Sam made a helpless gesture with his hands. “I know what I look like. I scare people sometimes and I don’t mean to.”
“What you look like?” Jess huffed, standing up and crossing the space that only required three steps. He ran a hand through Sam’s hair, messing it up a little and Sam looked up at him. “I don’t think you have any idea what you look like,” he said and leaned down, tipping Sam’s chin up with his fingers and taking his lower lip between his teeth.
