I was just thinking of this story yesterday and wondering if I was ready to reread it and have my heart broken all over again.

This whole story makes so much sense of Winchester canon, especially lines like this - he liked the way Sam smiled when he was colloquial - that lay bare how much of Dean's personality is based on making Sam happy. Wonderful work.
